Oh, finally, Stormland is on sale.
At that price, sure. I have to say I didn’t get too far into it, though. If I’m in VR, I’d rather play a game that takes full advantage of VR. Jeff Cannata absolutely loved it, FWIW.

As always, it’s worth to check out the cross buy games list for the Oculus ecosystem, as they have different offers. Usually in the Rift section the discounts are steeper.

Lone Echo and Stormland are both solid. And both rarely go on sale.

re: Edge, it’s a 3rd person perspective platformer, it had a good atmosphere but I put it down and never went back, just not my thing. I did the same with Moss, which by all accounts is the peak ot the genre, so I’m probably a bad reference.
I’m not seeing any different discounts on that cross-buy page. There’s only one Quest game on sale for more than 35% off, haha. Damn walled gardens.
I think I’ll pick up Eleven Table Tennis. Only saves $3 but it’s a good excuse.

It warms the cockles, the very COCKLES I tell you, of my heart to see you put down the DCS pipe for even a few minutes and vape some other righteous flavor.
edit: XWA upgrade has been out awhile. But they just released today XWA 2020.

Ok. I think this is what I was hoping for. I am still getting my feet under me for PC VR. I plan to buy everything I can via Steam for my new HP Reverb G2, but some Oculus store titles look really good. I am looking at:
Robo Recall
Asgards Wrath (not on sale?)
Stormlands
Brass Tactics
Do I buy these on the “Rift” tab of the store (not the Quest one)? Then I use something called Revive to play them via WMR or Steam VR?
I saw this video that seems to guide me, but I am still unclear how and where to buy/ install compatible games:
Are there some other must have Oculus titles?
If you don’t have Beat Saber already the DLC - but not the game - is cross-buy between the Quest and Rift. This saves some money if you ever get a Quest.
CLARIFICATION TIME
If you have a Quest 2, you can buy two kinds of games:
Standalone: You go to the Oculus Quest store (or put on the headset and browse) and buy a game. OR, using the USB cable, you Sideloader a game or app on the Quest. You don’t need a PC* or a cable to play these games. (*other than Sideloading games). Advantage is that you can fire these games up everywhere, like at the DMV or waiting to get fingerprinted downtown.
Rift games, PCVR, Steam VR: You buy them from the rift section of the Oculus store, download them from Steam, or pirate them or whatever. You install these on your PC. You will be playing these with a cable (or Wifi link) jacked into your Quest. Your PC will need to be slightly beefier than the usual game rig for positive results.
Now, to make things even more fun, there’s cross-buy meaning there’s two+ versions of the app. Some titles offer cross-buy; i.e. you buy the “standalone” version, you also get the “I need a cable & PC to play” version.
Beat Sabre is not cross-buy. Neither is TWD S&S.

Lone Echo stands out, but for the mechanics rather than the game itself. If you just want to experience flawless zero-G action then Echo VR is free with the arena and combat games, combat not available on Quest yet. Really can’t overstate how good the movement is, it’s perfect for the current limitations of VR. And LE isn’t a bad title by any means, just a touch thin on mechanic options, more of a linear story using the movement.

I can’t tell if your advice is for Quest only. If I have a G2, I want to buy on the Rift tab of the Oculus store (with a new Oculus store account I guess) and download the game there. Then I install Revive and Revive will let me play the Rift purchase via the Steam VR portal in the WMR cliff house? (jeeze just reading that all sounds like gibberish)

My favorite part about Eleven Table Tennis is during free play the AI will calculate where your ball will land, and if it’s going to miss the table, he doesn’t even bother to move. No fucks given, and you’ll know you’ve failed well in advance.
Holy crap I’m not sure how Oculus Rift stuff works for the G2.

Thanks, Denny!
I’m glad I saw this when I did… 9 more hours and I would have missed out on a very good deal. The only title I already had was Raw Data. Both Zero Caliber and Walking Dead had been on my wish list for a while now. Plus Creed should be a good winter workout option. I’m looking forward to trying them out!

I actually hate that and mentioned it to the dev as a flaw, it really messes up with those balls where you believe they will go in and in the end you miss by a hair. Not seeing the AI moves destroys that tension.
He agreed with me, but it seems he has like, several dozen items that are more important.
