Definitely don’t want to try to induce throwing up :-)

Down the road I mean. Try it after a few weeks to judge your VR legs

That looks so great, but jeesus christ the whole world was spinning when I tried it!
Yeah, I think I do. I tried it in pancake mode and am having a hard time getting things set up. Is there a good beginner’s guide? I haven’t played an air combat sim since the original IL-2.

Have a go at the quick mission builder.
Getting your inputs sorted is the biggest hurdle for most. Both il2 and dcs have elaborate control setup menus that are as obtuse as an Adorno monograph.
First off get axis bindings and your firing button. Shoot some fokkers in the QMB. Turn the difficulty settings down a notch or two. Now tweak it until perfection.
Flightsimming is quintessential pc masterrace shit. You better love tweaking settings and dealing with a little jank.

Heh, well there you go. Try it again in a month. I get seasick but can do anything in VR, and it certainly took a while for the ol’ noggin to figure it out.
Edit:. Well, I say that, but I’ve still never tried to enable full 3 axis in Lone Echo. I suspect that would still get me at first.
I’ve got the basic flight controls set up. Can’t figure out trim. There also seem to be a number of buttons that do more than one thing. What I need to do is write down what my MSFS bindings are, and try to replicate those as much as possible.
Crashed a P-51 on landing because I couldn’t put down the landing gear. It’s going to take some getting used to, but I cut my teeth on WW2 simulators, so I’m looking forward to the challenge!

Very smart move!
Not every machine il il2 has trim controls. Or often only in the pitch axis.

OMG this has VR support? Yippeee! Can someone watch what I’m doing on VR on my computer or tv screen?

It needs some mods, just google for them. I don’t know about the G2 but typically VR software has a setting to show a window on the regular Desktop mirroring the headset.
Yeah but it was kind of abandoned. No touch support, some performance and UI issues, and they dropped VR for the expansion/sequel whatever.
It is still pretty awesome though!

Oculus has google Cast feature, so I’d guess HP has something similar.
Every VR game I have played using Steam VR defaults to showing a view on your monitor as well so it should just work out of the box.

I didn’t care for it in VR, the head tracking to swim up and down quickly became a literal pain in the neck. The immersion is there, though.

Can’t you use a gamepad to do that instead?

Man, I got an email saying Amazon had more Quest 2s in stock and I told my wife I wanted to pull the trigger because I have just about enough Christmas money to get it. Then she gave me a bit of a hard time because she got me an elliptical machine for Christmas and by the time that conversation ended they were sold out again.
Facebook and Amazon really pushing the Quest 2 it seems. Ordered some food from Amazon Fresh to get me through the Christmas lockdown because all the other options were booked up, and half of the bags have Quest ads on them.
Yeah, the left/right bumpers let you move up/down.
It would be so much better if they had done touch controls so you could actually use your hands in the game, but it is still an immersive experience.

I took delivery of my G2 today. Its a great bit of kit imo, but it sure does need a lpt of that ol’ pc hackery.
My GPU is rather anaemic, so i am running the thing at half-res. And its still fucking awesome. I tried full res in the flight sim, but without enough frames that sucked hard. Looked great though!
Tried DCS, il2 and elite with it.

Congrats, Schurem! Hopefully that 3080 will follow soon…
Hey Pistol Whip is Steam’s deal of the day, 20% off. Need some exercise-ey VR games. I should buy this, shouldn’t I?
