I beat the single player campaign for Star Wars Squadrons and I did enjoy it quite a bit. It’s definitely not X-Wing / TIE Fighter, but it’s still very enjoyable. I really hope they use the engine to remaster the classic games so we can get some real meaty campaigns.
Also, I’m strongly considering buying this stick to replace my Sidewinder:

And then getting a proper throttle controller down the road when VKB makes one (or when something else quality becomes available at a decent price). Anybody have any thoughts on this company?

Non-gaming related VR question for the Reverb G2 which uses Windows Mixed Reality (WMR.) I click my monitor off in the evenings and the power settings (admirably) put my PC to sleep. Here’s the issue, when coming out of sleep or just turning my monitor on again, WMR pulls up my headset and the WMR screen, EVERY FLIPPING TIME. It’s annoying to the extreme.
This is about the only thing I could find that was related:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/wmr-portal-starts-after-wake-upstart-up/bc65584c-d4d8-4f6f-9634-a63a717ac6e6?auth=1
The issue is I don’t want to have to unplug the headset every time I’m done with it (from USB-C.) That seems … stupid? Can it not just launch when I want it to?

I just shut WMR down and it stays shut off even if my computer goes to sleep, as does my headset. If I want to VR game I re-launch the software.

By closing it with the X? I do as well. Then as soon as I power on my monitor in the morning it pops back on.
I think this may be related …
I just set that to manual. I’m not sure if that will work but I’ll try it for a while.

Does it ask if you really want to close the program and turn off WMR? Otherwise, that’s odd.

I just lets me close it, like anything else, nothing on the task bar or tray. Nothing in task manager that explicitly says Windows Mixed Reality either.

i’d love to see your modlist. I’ve never played Fallout 4 and am hoping it will be a treat in VR.
I picked up some 2-pound weights that wrap around my wrist with velcro leaving my palms free to hold the controllers. I like 'em! Haven’t tried them with anything other than BoxVR so far.

I don’t have a lot of mods installed. I went to Nexus and sorted by downloads, then chose the best of those. After some experimentation these are the main mods I chose.
- Fallout 4 VR optimization project - I didn’t care for this and replaced it with the high rez pack from regular FO4
- More accurate weapons
- Improved reflex sights
- VR configuration tool
- DLCVR DLC bug fixes. This one has issues, and I had a lot of missing textures in Far Harbor.
- Be seated VR
- Full Dialog VR
Hope that helps.
It finally happened, I placed the order for a Quest 2. It’s estimated to get here in… a month! Oh well, I guess that gives me time to read everything I can about it.
Seems like I should order an Elite strap as well, plus a 5 m link cable. That should do it for now. I’d love to use Virtual Desktop over wifi, but I won’t know if that’ll work with my router (which is a good one) until I test it. Also, if I need any lens adaptors to replace my glasses I’ll figure that out once I’ve used it.
Now for the agonizing wait.

I’ve shut down WMR software as others are indicating, but I too have noticed it reboots when the display port wakes up when I turn my monitor of then on again later. I have thought about unplugging the smaller power cord from the breakout box to truly have the G2 off as nothing else is remotely accessible. I wished the set had on off switch or at least played nicer with USB and display port switching. I also get a USB device has failed message a few minutes after closing the WMR software which seems to require a power cycle at the break out box or PC reboot to get the headset to wake up even if the software is restarted.

Just got mine today. A friend who’s had a couple different VR rigs suggested backing this instead of getting an elite strap: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vrbalance/vr-balance-2-for-oculus-quest-2-or-original?ref=project_email

So perhaps this is a G2 thing? That’s what I’m doing now, yanking the USB-C for it which gives it power. WMR does NOT pop up each time I come out of sleep or turn the monitor on/off once I do that. Glad to know I’m not going crazy. It does make me wish there were a headset on/off though.
Thanks for the confirmation from you and @Profanicus.
That looks like it would be great. But being Kickstarter, the ETA of March will probably turn into September. 2022.

When you play No Man’s Sky in VR. Are you playing with a gamepad, or the VR controllers?
Gamepad. Works rather well, but no continuous movement option.
