The in game resolution should scale up when you crank the Render Resolution. Are you sure it recommends 1.0x? That seems crazy low to me. This is different than super sampling, you have to go up to 1.7x just to get ‘native’ resolution at the center of the display.

Also you should figure out what you are locked at 1.3. Did you test the USB cable? Or maybe it’s a video code thing, is it an AMD card?

Thanks for the help and explanations.

Yep, I’ve done the USB test. I usually get 2.4 Gbps with a USB 3 connection. My system is aging - 6700k icore 7, gtx 1070.

Fuck. My G2 died on me. Only thing I can see happened was windows update throwing errors. So I reset windows. But nope. Tried different ports. Nope. Measured the power bricks’ output. Fine. Reseated the cable. Nope. It’s dead Jim. FUCK.

I’m intrigued by the story. It reminds me of Firewatch.

This looks cool, but I want to know what the gameplay is, once you enter in any of those worlds with the marks.

Quest implementation of Tilt Brush with multiplayer, nice.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Out of warranty I take it?

After I bumped the Quest 2 refresh rate to 90 in the Oculus program, the max render resolution increased from 1.3 to 1.5.

Ugh, condolences!

Nooo! Did you try different USB ports? Why would windows update throw errors relating to the G2? Or do you mean when you saw it post some errors is when you noticed it wasn’t working?

No, I still have warranty, I’ll start wrestling the company about it on monday.

Yes I tried all viable ports on the box. The errors it threw did not pertain the G2, they were about an update that didn’t install correctly. I “reset” windows then, to be very sure. This is pretty much a reinstall. I re-seated the cable in the headset, but no joy. It’s dead Jim.

The bad thing is, I’m hearing some pretty bad shit about HP handling warranty cases. It might be weeks, months before I can spread my wings again.

Even though it still isn’t good, I’m glad you at least have some recourse.

Yea I’ve seen that on reddit. Not good.

That mask one screams Virtual Virtual Reality, an old title but clever and a bit deep as VR games go. I never finished it but enjoyed my time in it thoroughly.

Well I’ve had a couple weeks with my VKB Gladiator NXT Premium and I have to say I am impressed with it. I’ve never owned a higher end flight stick, so coming from the Sidewinder Precision 2 / Cyborg 3D I’ve been using for the last uh…twenty-ish years is a bit of a revelation. The build quality and precision of the stick itself is on another level. There’s no play whatsoever, so making tiny, precise adjustments is simple rather than futile. Even the way the stick calmly and precisely rights itself without the use of any motor is impressive. Every other stick I’ve ever used just wobbles itself back into its center position.

There are also nearly 30 inputs on this thing, plus a thumbstick / POV hat, and everything is well placed and easy to reach. Once they release their HOTAS throttle, I’m sure I’ll have just about all the inputs I’ll ever want.

The base is pretty weighty, but you definitely do need to apply a little downforce when using the stick, or else it will tip over. Of course you can also attach it to a mount, which I may do eventually.

Two thumbs up!

I was thinking about going with that, but was worried there’d be too much tension work when flying a helicopter or trying to make wild swings when evading SAM’s. Does it work well for them?

Well I haven’t played anything with helicopters or SAMs so I couldn’t say for sure. I have played a bunch of X-Wing though where I’ve had to evade plenty of TIEs and torpedoes and it works great for that. The premium version also comes with extra springs, some of which have less tension I believe. I wouldn’t change a thing about it, though. It also seems modular enough that even I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable replacing parts if the need arose.

Didn’t you say your finger controllers died last week too? Is it possible it’s somehow related?

What’s their HOTAS throttle look like?
Also, is there a pinky trigger on that?

The stick has a pinky button, an index button, a dual stage primary trigger, and a 2-function secondary trigger.

The throttle has not been released, but here’s a preview of it. It sounds absolutely badass.

Nah they were acting up, couldn’t get it to work at that time. Next day I unfucked them.

So my Quest 2 is in Sydney, which hopefully means I’ll get it before 25 February. I mean it should be here in a week. But maybe they’ll sit on it for an extra 10 days to ensure their shipping date is accurate!

I guess the inevitable question is, where’s a good place to start once I get the thing set up? I’m obviously a VR virgin so I’m going to pass on VR Overload for a while, I’m looking for things that will be a good introduction. At first I’ll stick with native apps, I’ll worry about PC link later. Besides, my laptop only has a 1060 in it so fairly close to entry level specs. I’m sure I’ll be trying Elite Dangerous VR at some point, hoping it can manage that.
