A lot of folks on Reddit loved them, plus reviews seemed pretty positive, and I liked their lens covers. I also did go with blue coating.

I’m leaning toward them, but found a place that has a magnetic mount for easy removal I’m thinking about trying.
It seems as if most of them are magnetic for easy application and removal.

TotF is amazing for a workout. I was doing some fights against some average AI last week and after 2 rounds was sweating all over my Oculus 2. Boxing really does up the calorie usage…watching that calorie tracker program on the OC2, Thrill always gives me a higher calorie burn per time spent than any other game. But, it’s hard to do it for 20-30 minutes so I switch in and out this and Beat Saber and Supernatural with a bit of table tennis in there.
Agreed, ToTF is a great workout and a lot of fun, but I can only do it in short bursts because damn it’s intense.

Tried a BS session today and it was just off for some reason. I couldn’t hit patterns that should’ve been easy. Not sure if it’s me or if my tracking was slightly off. Very frustrating. It might be time to upgrade to Quest 2. My Quest gives me all sorts of problems: won’t boot, loses tracking, and just generally is getting worse and worse at responding with precision.

My kid and i originally both had Q1’s and then I got a version 2 for myself. He still has his 1 but does complain quite a bit about random issues. MY Q2 has been good so far…and I find it quite a bit more comfortable.
Oh my, you mean all those high scores are the result of using an inferior headset and you could in fact do considerably better? :o
I definitely find my BS performance varies from day to day. I’ll often “miss” blocks that I should have hit, but perhaps I just simply clipped them instead of hitting them properly? They’re usually blocks to the far left or right, so more likely I just missed them. And yes, some days my brain just nopes out.
I tried ghost notes again last night. I just can’t handle those at all! I can hit a few of them I guess, but anything more complex than a single block and I’m toast.
I tried Tetris Effect today and HOLY SHIT that was amazing. Got a ton of disconnects via the link cable though, not sure why, but I’m gonna try a few things to fix it before contacting customer service about the link cable.
Oh no, stop telling me about these awesome things that are currently on sale!*
There’s a duo pack on the Oculus store, this plus Rez Infinite. Why is everything tempting?
*actually don’t.
Oh I got it on sale at the Epic store.
I played a few runs of Cosmodread yesterday. I learned the game goes a bit too hard in the RNG factor. In some of them I didn’t get any blueprint and resented how they wasted my time. In other they drop the blue key on the starting room. In one of them the main hub room had all rooms locked by keys except a single one, but that one was occupied by one of the giant aliens that attack you (instantly, it can’t be avoided ??) with tentacles, making it almost impossible to continue. In others there was almost no enemies for 30 minutes.
What I really want right now is to get a blueprint for some healing item, because enemies hit pretty hard in this game, three hits and you are out.
I praised before Vox Machinae but I guess I need to do the opposite now. I tried to play a game of ‘Convoy’ mode, and found there was 3 trucks I had to escort. However, the first one was stuck on a big rock after a few seconds, and the other two were found near their spawning point driving in circles. That was basically pre-alpha levels of functionality. Maybe don’t make a gamemode where AI plays a role when said AI is super shit.
And I’m finding the gameplay a bit limited, I feel there is more role distinction in the more traditional Mechwarrior kind of games, while here they all blur more. Not being able to to point the torso at a different direction than the legs also removes some depth of the experience.
So some good news. When I play Virtual Desktop in our large bedroom, which is closer to the router, there is NO glitching at all. This’ll be great for games that require more space like Superhot and such. I might’ve also solved my link disconnection problem, though one of three solutions could’ve worked.
First, apparently with the current software, if the Quest is near fully charged, it’ll disconnect all over the place, so let it drain a bit, which I did. Another is changing the bitrate in the debug program to 300, which worked for someone else with a 2080ti. The final thing I did was change “OVRServer_x64.exe” in the task manager to “realtime” priority.
So whereas yesterday I was dropping left and right, today had not one drop. Progress!
Excellent and much needed! I hope there’s an animated doggy avatar when my shep decides to sprawl out near the edge of the Guardian! My current approach is to slide him unceremoniously across the floor into a small alcove where I can’t step on him accidentally. I’m sure the Guardian software would fail to capture the nuance of his put out expression during this event.
Brian, can I ask where you got this short USB-C to USB-C extension from?
Gah, I spent 20 minutes fruitlessly typing in search terms in Amazon and didn’t come close to that.
That one you linked doesn’t have the horizontal 90 degree turn, but now I’m in the vicinity I’m sure I’ll find it.
Thanks!
You are way better at Amazon than I am.
