Slightly worrying review, as my favourite parts of Lone Echo were when I was just fixing stuff on and around the station, but nothing that’s going to stop me buying it.

The VR thread is now here Ginger_Yellow

That’s the lowest rated review, by the way, the rest are more positive

I’d just like to say that I miss phone-based VR.

Sorry about that, was posting on my phone and this was the thread that came up. It’s not so much the score that has me worried, as the description of what the game is emphasising.

John Carmack’s keynote at Facebook/Meta 2021 Connect. Haven’t watched it all yet but they’re always interesting!

My son picked up a VR headset and started playing Skyrim. His commentary in a video he made to show me what it’s like is entertaining enough I’m going to share his video.

Lol why is he shooting a trillion arrows?

LOL keep watching, he was doing that while talking and then starts the game. Just something to do while setting up - he recorded this for me directly, not a wide audience, but I thought it was a fun video, so he gave me permission to link it.

Heh, that was a cool video. Makes me want to fire up Skyrim VR, but then I realise I’d have to spend hours installing all the recommended mods. Rabbit hole alert!

Also @Matt_W are you leaving us or something? Or just pointing out that Facebook has us by the balls?

I deleted my FB account a couple years ago. I had to create a new one for Oculus. Wasn’t thrilled about that or my daughter having access to FB to play on Occulus so Oscar the cat forayed out into the world wide web.

On another note I am down with the sickness’s. VR might not be for me only played 2 sessions for 15 is minutes but both took me a hour plus to recover from. One was the Vader game and the other I sat down for the WW1 plan fighting game. Daughter is fine at least.

Gotta go slow, it takes time to adjust. The most important thing is to stop at the FIRST sign of discomfort, not when the discomfort starts to get bad. You’ll also probably feel a little disassociated in the real world for a day or two, then it all clicks and clears up.

Don’t give the password to her?

The cat? It can’t type!

Flying games can be a bit rough. I’d start with something that has teleport-based movement, like The Room VR

Or flying that starts out straight & level. MSFS. VTOL VR. Il2 BoX or DCS. Sit in the pit, look around, get used to it. Get it moving in a predictable, easy manner.

Doing the swirly is not something you want to do if you’re new to VR.

IMO a seated cockpit (IE a flight sim) is a more comfortable VR experience than anything that has you teleporting all over a fantasy world. I get nauseous off of those, even though I can zip around in a virtual F-16 all day.

As others have said, you’re trying to run before you can walk with those! Try something like Beat Saber (there’s a demo) or Audica where you’re standing up and not moving, I think BS was the first game I tried. Get used to the general feeling of VR before you start to move around. Games like Moss and Down the Rabbit Hole are also great for getting used to VR, where there’s no nausea from movement. You will get used to it by taking it slowly.

Space Pirate Trainer also has a demo, and is also great for all this.

Not planning to leave, but I did go to deactivate my facebook account last night. I periodically do this when I feel like it’s taking over my life. Discovered I can’t deactivate my facebook account without bricking my Quest. Yipee.

LOL. Sorry, but my FB account would be the last thing that would take over my life. I enter like… once every eight months.

If I had to deactivate some social media on Internet because it consume too much of my time, it would be QT3. :P

Please don’t. Tom’s data mining is just getting to the good bits.
