I was wondering about that too. Looks like T-Dog was this episode’s redshirt.
Whatever happened to the older droopy-faced prisoner, BTW? Did we see him bite it? And it can be safely assumed that the generator-room dude opened the gates and let all the walkers in?
Sounds like you missed the pre-intro lead-in. It’s the same dude; he used the axe he still had to open the gates.

Damn, this show has a more brutal cast mortality rate than an end of the season Kage no Gundan.
And Talking Dead - Gale Anne Hurd looks like she was drawn by Barry Windsor-Smith.

Holy shit, I was wondering how they were going to handle the whole Lori arc, and I guess it is done arced.

…And for one brief, shining moment Carl becomes everybody’s favorite character (although I’m a little suspicious of the fact that they didn’t actually show the deed.)
Prisoner: So can I join your gang now?
Rick: As it turns out, we happen to have an opening for a big Black guy for when we run into Merle again. In.
Maggie: What will we name the baby?
Rick: How about Chum?
Remember season two when Walking Dead sucked? That seems so long ago.
You know, if there’s one thing a zombie TV show can do to endear me, it’s this kind of hardcore cast churn. That was really well done, even if the violins were laying it on a bit thick. But that episode was right up there with the Sophie-in-the-barn reveal in terms of making me glad I watch this show. And to think I was briefly worried I was going to remember this as the episode where Lauren Cohan flirts with creepy guys.

Will I felt sorry for Maggie and Carl, what awful thing to have to do. If there was one cast member voted of Zombie island Lori tops the list. But what will the Lori haters do without her on the show.
I’m bummed about T-Dog. I knew he wasn’t going to last forever, but I really wanted him to survive until the end of the show and become legendary as a pure utility character who hangs around forever and helps out when he’s needed, despite the writers never bothering to develop him.

From pg’s post above after this episode there were 5 successive posts with 1 line reactions. You know the Qt3 community really liked an episode when that happens.
Imagine how unhinged Rick is now that he not only lost his wife, but he lost his wife without forgiving her for her adultry with Shane. That sort of guilt (lack of closure, not being able to say goodbye appropriately especially after a long fight) eats a man alive from the inside out. Rick has gone over the edge.
Then we have Rick Jr. A boy turned a man before his time who apparently kills his mom. Talk about not being able to protect her himself… instead he has to kill her. Carl will be psychologically screwed forever.
Amazing.
As for Carol I think she is safe and will return to the group.
I, too, am sad that T-bag is dead. He didn’t really play an important role in any of the 3 seasons. I think the writers really under developed his character. They could have done a lot more with his character. Regardless, the point is moot now.
How many more episodes until the end of season 3? Looks like this season will end with a confrontation between Woodbury and Rick’s gang with Michonne/Blondie serving as the link connecting the two.

Damn, his death episode isn’t even cold and you are already calling him by the character from Prison Break’s name (Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell). How soon we forget! Rest in peace, Theodore “T-Dog” Douglas. ;-)
I really liked how Carl’s transformation has been almost an afterthought, a secondary event happening in the backgroud for several episodes now, and then in this one it finally reaches fruition. Loved the flashback to the barn and the conversation with Rick, and the look on Carl’s face both when he emerges from the boiler room and again when he see Rick in the yard. Great acting there.
Sad to see T-Dog go down, but it had to happen eventually given his complete lack of character development and the fact that several new and/or old characters are about to enter the main storyline necessitating some pruning of current cast. I suspect Lori’s fate plus the needs of the baby will force the group to abandon the idea of using the prison as a home (and Rick looks to be out of commision in terms of leadership for the time being). Looking forward to the eventual discovery of Merle and Andrea by the group, as well as the trip to Crazy Town.

He’s just a great actor. Not “for a kid” great but clearly talented great.
Proof of which is that, until I just read your post, I hadn’t thought of him AS an actor. Wild. Kids got real talent.

I frowned when T-Bone died. Oh no! There goes Token I said, only to watch him be replaced minutes later by a new Token. Thank god they are so interchangeable. <insert unhappy face here>
Admittedly, new token seems like much more of a bad ass. “Have some pride.”

I swear to god, not one bit of this show has gotten to me for it’s entire run.
And then Lori tried to impart wisdom on Carl.
And then Carl did the thing he had to do.
And then Rick found out.
Fuckers. I had a perfect streak of being all snarky and aloof.
EW has a good interview with the Sarah Callies (the Lori actress) about episode 4: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/11/04/sarah-wayne-callies-lori-walking-dead/1/
Wow, what a spectacular episode.
When T-Dog sacrificed himself, I said to myself: “Well, Lori won’t die now… no chance they’ll kill two main-line characters in one show. Rick’ll show up at the last second.” Heh.
I too am sorry to see T-Dog go without any major character development. They seemed to have set him up as a “gang-banger who could put his criminal past behind him” back in Season 1, but he quickly became no more than cheap labor to haul bodies around. Let’s hope that the New Black Guy, who is an honest-to-gosh ex-criminal with a kinda tough-guy thing going can actually DO something with the archetype.
Carol will come back. Probably alive.

Wait, which token are we talking about? The passive prisoner who won’t beg for his life, or the one that chops off heads with a katana? My vote for bad-ass of bad-asses is for Michonne!
