I was hoping Lori would miscarry and the baby would chew it’s way out.
The first two seasons really made Lori into a whining, self-absorbed harridan that the audience could hardly NOT hate. As much as I disliked the character, I have to say that the actress really did a pretty good job.
And the character seemed to turn a corner this season too – it would have been nice to have seen her redeem herself a bit beyond simply saving Hershel the other week. I guess that showed her transformation from the “Oh God, what’s the point of living in this world” Lori of last season to one in which she cherishes life enough to try and save a crippled old man at some risk to herself… but we didn’t get much of a chance to see how or why that might change her.
Ah well. Maybe Rick can finally get laid. Gotta be tough on him with almost everyone else paired up somehow – that’s obviously what drove T-Dog to noble suicide.
Oh for fuck’s sakes, bye bye thread.

… What? Shit, this isn’t supposed to be a spoiler free thread, is it?
What? Isn’t it logical if you had not yet watched the latest episode you should not read a thread talking about the events of the latest episode?
Back on topic - awesome if depressing episode. Like others I was expecting a zombie baby birth after Lori died. :)
Even so I hope subsequent episodes don’t turn into Zombie Battle No 54 of the week. There are only so many times I can stand seeing a zombie knifed in the head before it becomes utterly boring. It’s what I liked about season 2 which had a good balance between character development and zombie action.
OK, I totally take back what I said about the show’s approach to Carl. If they were going to do what they did with him, that was so the way to do it.

I think next week they meet the governor in the quest for baby formula.

Never happy. :)
“More zombie killing!”
“Oh god, this zombie killing is getting so boring!”

I’m pretty sure you’re alone in saying, “Hey there is a little bit too much zombie violence in season 3, let’s get back to the season 2 golden age.”
First half of Season 2 was unwatchable compared to what we have now.
Yeah the phone call is a mind trip. I have no idea what would possibly come after.

It’s coming from INSIDE THE BUILDING.
Daryl is now the Leader cause he found Clint Eastwood’s poncho.

There’s no way an entire person, even minus a baby, can fit inside a single zombie. That strains the limits of credulity.
I just wanted to mention that I really appreciated the duct tape armor that was used. It’s about time that mankind’s greatest invention got introduced in this tale of survival (or, um … slow undeath).
This whole episode was one question after another for me. Zombie Thunderdome? Really? And the reasoning for this was that it conditioned people to not panic in the presence of biters? Then the whole Carol thing. She’s gone, but apparently nobody bothered to attempt to look for her despite T-Dog’s body being discovered near an open door to the outside.
The quest for baby supplies was full of win, from Daryl’s ponco to “Hello dinner!” to “little asskicker” and daddy Daryl. Makes me wonder how Merle will react when he finally meets Daryl again and discovers he’s not the little brother he used to be.
Finally, Rick. I get the rampage and wanting to find his wife’s body to recover for some semblence of closure. I assume the scene in the boiler room was suppsed to represent the fact that multiple walkers found and consumed Lori’s headshot body, and Rick’s slicing open of the walker was a callback to Daryl’s doing the same when searching for signs of Sophia last season. I presume Rick found what he was looking for before the phone rang.
If this episode had aired last Sunday I would have expected Rick to pick up the phone to hear a recorded campaign adverstisement. “I’m Mitt Zombie, and I approve this message!”
So they found Carol’s body/Zombie Carol? I thought we were still unsure of what happened to her?
We are still unsure. They never did find a body, which is why the filled in gravesite made no sense. Hell, as I mentioned above, they never even looked for her. They knew she and T-Dog were together, yet they found his body by an open door and never bothered to think that Carol may have made it out and be hiding or wandering somewhere. Even Daryl, who looked tirelessly for Sophia, seems to have simply assumed “well, Carol’s toast, time to find a new bitch for the back of my bike!”.
I know this is a reach, but a couple of things:
- Rick finds a bullet. I’m assuming it was fired by Carl. But it was supposed to be inside mommy’s head… but he found it. So… did Carl really shoot Lori?
- Lori’s body - not there. Yeah, it looks like it’s inside the bloated body, but all of it? We’ve already had many people say it sort of strains things to think that a zombie (or a bunch of them even) could consume an entire body, bones and all.
- One thing I’ve learned from watching TV is that if you don’t see their body, they may not be dead.
Is it possible that Lori is still alive in some form (which I assume would be zombie form given the birth/c-section)? Or is that a bridge too far?
