Speaking pragmatically, I think you’d go for the crippling wound so the bait’s screams would attract as many zombies as possible.

For me the Shane thing boils down to: He didn’t leave you behind, you can’t leave him behind. Fight and run until you decide how you want to use that last bullet(on yourself or not).

Getting the supplies back is a secondary thing, there is no guarantee those supplies will even help. I personally could not go back without the guy I left with and face those people if I was in that situation. I didn’t hold shooting the kid against Otis though, that seemed to be an obvious accident. If anything Rick and Shane were to blame for letting Carl approach a wild animal.

It was pure Flashman: “If I can’t run faster than you, I’ll make sure you can’t run at all. Devil take the hindmost!”

To others who thought it obvious that he had shot Otis when he came back alone - Otis could have simply tripped and Shane didn’t bother to help him up and got a lead and didn’t wait at the truck, or Otis collapsed, or panicked, or got blind-sided, or they got separated and he was still staggering along somewhere in the darkness with the zombies perpetually closing in.

Nor is it necessarily an internal view of the character - the corpse is still there with a damning bullet in the bone, and might even come crawling back to the farm. Or the zombies might migrate leaving it open to more supply foraging raids and open to discovery. Depends on what they want to do with Shane as a character.

I never thought that Otis might stumble back to the farm as a zombie and hence get discovered, especially since…

edit: below ISN’T a spoiler but I put a spoiler warning anways just in case… I havent read the comics and I know nothing of how the storyline unfolds… below is just a ‘guess’

it’s not really a spoiler

I saw the previews for next week. I thought that Otis was the zombie they see when they open the floortrap and there is an obese zombie staring back at them. Looks like Shane’s secret will remain a secret though, since Zombies can’t speak… or can they?

One thing that has bugged me the last few episodes is unless they are specifically foraging or looking for supplies it seems like they don’t care. When they found the tent with the hanging zombie they just walked away. When they picked up the ventilator you’d have thought they’d have taken every drug they could fit. It’s not like drugs weight a lot.

I also thought a head shot on Otis would be more humane and would have served the same result.

There is a button for the spoiler tags, btw, but if you must do it manually it’s:

(SPOILER=“write something here”) (/SPOILER)

with brackets instead of parentheses of course

Sigh. We have spoiler tags, DrDel. Please use them.

Well, he’s not even sure it’s him. I don’t normally watch previews but now I sorta feel like I may as well check.

Shit. I missed last Sunday’s episode 3. Anyone know where to catch it online?

next week’s preview, minor comic spoiler
OK that is a fat zombie, and it looks like it’s in the well, not a trapdoor. The problem with it is that in the comics, Otis and Patricia (his wife) aren’t part of the farm family from the beginning, their lives were lived in a suburban gated community that was apparently cut from the show, so it wouldn’t make sense to have him come back to the farm for sentimental reasons, but the show hasn’t mentioned anything about this so perhaps they will go that route.

And the reveal would be in the bullet in the leg.
The lack of constant scavenging bothered me a lot more before, but now I just think “Well, how much crap do you want to lug around with you, really?”

For example, upgrades are one thing. If all I have is a stick, I’m definitely picking up the next gun I find, even if it’s a muzzle loader. If all I have is a handgun, the next rifle or shotgun I find is coming with me. And so on.

But once I have my rifle of choice, am I really going to continue picking up rifles? No. What about ammo? Since I’m going to be hauling the stuff around, I’m only picking up specific caliber ammo, not all ammo in general. Whether by myself or with others, collecting crap for the sake of collecting it ‘because we might need it someday’ is a no go.

In the medical supply situation they were in, speed is of the essence. So not wasting time picking up stuff you don’t need, AND not slowing yourself down hauling stuff you don’t need make sense. Especially since all that stuff is not going anywhere. If the doc really needed them to, they could go back later en masse and clean that place out.

Since not all of them are armed, much less what I’d call well armed, them not picking up more guns is still annoying to me though.

SPOILER from the previews

I look forward to seeing why they’re lowering Glenn into the well where that zombie is. Rescue? That thing looks less like a zombie and more like one of the early ghosts in the first Ghostbusters movie.

but it wasn’t a spoiler

it was just a precaution

more preview discussions, not a spoiler

My guess is Otis (assuming it is Otis) has something they need from him. The other thing I was thinking is that the obese zombie is the vet (the guy who owns the farm)… but what could they possibly need? good question

oh yeah, in last nights episode the asian dude and the african american dude are walking up to the H farm porch and there is a brunette woman sitting on the front porch

how does the asian guy know her from previous? were we introduced to her in the first season? if so where? i dont recall her

further, are her and the asian guy going to get it on or something?

Um… she rode up on a horse and talked to him last episode?

And use your shift key.

speaking of couples do you think the Hillbilly and Andrea are also going to get it on? seemed like it lastnight

oh right… thanks i recall now

Based on my experience in Fallout 3, anything I can find up to my weight limit, including bent cans.

Of course, my actual strength is probably only about 3, and I sure as hell don’t have the Strong Back perk.
