It’s obvious they have just been lucky so far. However I agree there should be way more survivors. It would be relatively easy to survive in a high rise I’d think but leaving the city might be a bit of a challenge.
Fellow humans should still be a much bigger risk than zombies, maybe this coming episode we’ll see some of that. I thought Survivors and Dead Set which people recommended did much, much better on realism and even on manufactured drama/emotions/infighting.
Bullshit.
-
Get a bunch of guns.
-
Get all the zombies out of the highrise.
-
Baracade yourself in the high rise and live happily ever after.
In case you are confused, step 1 and 2 would be really fucking hard.

Where does the food come from?

Forget food, I bet the second time you had to go out and find water and then carry it up twenty flights of stairs, you’d start seriously thinking about finding a new hideout.

See - that’s the kind of fun debate that the show characters should be constantly having. It’s ridiculous how unconcerned they seem about having a defensible shelter, just casually camping, hanging out on the highway with herds of zombies…after these fuckers wiped out the armies of the world!
you seem to be confusing me with someone who thinks holing up in a highrise is a good idea.
Not only can the show benefit from that kind of fun dialogue but from the action that would come afterwards.
For us here, we can only discuss 'what if’s. On the show, they can have the characters discuss it and then actually carry out the plan. So you’d have smart characters come up with a feasible plan, then all the episodes of them carrying out this plan, then we’d see the results where any problems stem from logical issues(like having to carry water upstairs).
Instead they are doing it the hard way. Let’s have them do something random like decide to drive to Fort Wherever. Then something happens along the way…hmmm, I wonder what that could be…I know, what if one of the kids runs away!?!

Really, everyone annoyed by Walking Dead should give Survivors a shot. It’s not perfect, but it’s better.
Eh, Survivors was dumber in a lot of ways. I honestly think the Walking Dead has been a lot better than Survivors, flaws and all.

Walking Dead has the potential to be great because we’ve seen it great, and that is what is so frustrating.
Walking Dead should have had a definite end season so they could plan out a beginning, middle, and end instead of this aimless meandering until they think of a new plot point but not making TOO much progress towards any type of resolution in case it gets renewed for another season or two.

The Walking Dead is based on an ongoing comic book, and the TV show is not anywhere close to having caught up. The writers aren’t scrabbling to think of what to do next, they are just pacing the show in a way you are unhappy with.
Holy shit, my man crush for Daryl just reached epic proportions. That was the definition of badassery.

I’m glad they’re FINALLY getting to Hershell’s big secret.
I wish they’d get the damned Sophia storyline resolved one way or another.
Oh? Is it a comic book? Had no idea mate, thought it was based on a clay pot or glacier given the pace.
Sarcasm aside yeah, but a TV show isn’t the same as a comic book and a TV show can’t do the “ongoing” thing like a comic book can and a full comic book is what, ten minutes on screen?
A set number of seasons with a definite end planned would have made pacing better and forced them to tighten the script.

In order to get a network to even look at the rough draft script you need to have a set number of seasons already developed.
