Shadow of the Ninja Reborn is from the Natsume team that did the modern versions of Wild Guns, Pocky and Rocky, and Ninja Warriors. All three of those are tremendous games, and this looks like it will be no less exciting, especially since it’s graphically far beyond its NES original look.
Return to Moria has been out almost a year on PC, ah, it’s the steam release, and playstation, too, I think. They’re adding in some good QoL in this patch, including a sandbox mode, crossplay, various difficulty sliders for customization, and various other things like improvement to building and storing. I enjoyed my time with it and would recommend it to anyone liking a survival-type LOTR game.
This for me, probably. Though, I think I bought the last couple of Mana remakes/ports for Switch and still haven’t really played them much, so might wait a while. Too many JRPGs coming out lately. I think I have 3 or 4 upcoming ones preordered. JRPGS were (kind of) dead, then they weren’t.
I’ll probably be unable to resist trying the Star Wars game, but I’m expecting to tire of it fairly quickly. Unless they’ve shaken up their open world formula a bit.
No threats for me, although there were two major ones.
Shadow of the Ninja, as Dave mentionned, remade by Natsume, looked like it could be awesome, given the original was a pretty nifty game, but they generously provided a demo a couple of weeks ago and I quite disliked it! Questionable “decisions” (I’d say issues, but it seems they do not intend to double guess them) all in favour of putting forward the beautiful visuals that themselves got absolutely in my way, and boy, what a terrible soundtrack. It seems this one is going the Pocky and Rocky appearance over substance way and is an easy pass for me.
Gundam Breaker 4 could have been a threat as well, if the network test client didn’t reveal that the fun structure of the first game I had played in the series made way for an absolutely horrible Monster Hunter wannabe, with crazy healthbar boss, but none of the exciting gameplay. What a bore.
Bless demos! Or curse them, I guess, if you are trying to sell your game.
I am so reasonnable. I am not even remotely threatened by the Umamoussmé retro visuals action game releasing this week!
Having seen a video now, this reminds me quite a bit of Supraland.
A few highly anticipated releases this week, I think. The Casting of Frank Stone is the latest horror game from Supermassive. Star Trucker is highly anticipated from us space sim fans and also truck fans, and it also comes to Game Pass tomorrow. Age of Mythology Retold should be a good return to an RTS classic for those of us that missed it or loved it and want to return to it. I would definitely be chomping at the bit for Astro Bot if I had a PS5, so I’m very envious of those that do for the first time since the release of Demon’s Souls remake.
Any wallet threats for you this week?

Oh and a congratulations to the developers of Harry Potter’s Quidditch game, no matter how it turns out. Turning a game that was clearly not developed by a game designer into an actual game has got to be an impossible task, so hats off for attempting it!
My father plays very few games. His favorite genre is the Commandos-like game, of which there are very few - and the closure of Mimimi earlier this year had him really sad. But then Sumerian Six was announced (and a new Commandos game) so he’s really happy. I might try this one eventually, but I’m just glad my dad will have a game like that to enjoy. So it’s a wallet threat for him, not me.
As for me…
I played the demo for this one during Steam Next Fest, and I liked it. It was a bit janky and some aspects felt, let’s say, “less than developed”, but I’m willing to check this one… if the reviews are good, and it’s not too expensive.
BTW, there are a few games missing in that list. One is this one, who got a shoutout from ShillUp last week:
Biggest week of the year, probably. Luckily Star Trucker and Age of Mythology are on Game Pass and I’ve already paid for Ace Attorney, but I’ll probably also be picking up Astro Bot.
I’m very curious to see how Gimmick2 can live up to its father.
I can’t wait to surprise my kids with Astro Bot.
Next week is Space Marine 2 but I won’t be done with Wukong by then, unfortunately.
There was one of these 20 years ago on PS2/Xbox/GC
I will be playing Astro Bot on Friday for sure. I haven’t bought many games full price day one in the last couple years. This is one that I’m super excited to play immediately.
Oh wow, you’re right. It doesn’t sound like it reviewed too well. Hopefully this team can do better?
The quidditch game is one of the free ps plus games this month so I’ll give it a go at least. Not really sure how they’ll implement a sport whose rules don’t really make sense but we’ll see!
Well, for some of us, stupidly perhaps, its this week :-)
I want to preserve my wallet for next week’s release of The Plucky Squire, so it’s not helping that there’s so many big releases this week. First of all, one of the few factory games I’ve heard of is leaving Early Access. Sound the alarm! It feels like most games I hear about in that genre are all in EA so congrats to Satisfactory for being one of the first 3D games in that genre to make it out of the gate. I feel like I should get it just to try out the new genre! It’s not often when that happens in gaming, after all. Space Marine 2 is coming today. KT Racing, who did the WRC games are releasing the new Test Drive Unlimited game set in Hong Kong. Hopefully they will have worked out their server issues that they were having for Deluxe/Gold edition buyers.

My backlog from the last few weeks is such that I’m in wait for a sale mode on pretty much everything (ie Space Marine 2 this week). Satisfactory I bought years ago, and I will be playing it for sure, but not until I finish TBW, get bored of SW Outlaws and play some more Shapez 2.
I will definitely get the Marvel vs. Capcom Collection eventually. The Punisher is so good and an excellent addition to that already great group of games. First time available for the home! The Genesis port was great, but super pricey now.
This would be a threat, but I bought it a long time ago. I was waiting for 1.0 to actually play, so I’m looking forward to that, finally!
Aaaaand… that’s it. Next week is the big one…
