Wallet Threat Level

Given the framerate/resolution on the Switch version, the wallet is threatened by this on PC. And Sunbreak of course. :)

This Eurogamer Recommended review makes the game sound pretty awesome. The console release got delayed to an unspecified time in 2022, but it should still be coming for Switch, XB1, PS4 in 2022.

And it’s on sale in the steam sale right now to only $15 in the U.S.

Thursday (7/7/22):

  • Matchpoint - Tennis Championships (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Ruinsmagus (PC, Quest)

Friday (7/8/22):

  • Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series (All platforms, I think)
  • AI: The Somnium Files – Nirvana Initiative (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
  • MADiSON (PS5, PS4, Switch, PC, Xbox Series X/S)
  • Arcadegeddon (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, XBO, PC) (Xbox on July 5th?)

This week’s a mess! I don’t know, I guess we’re getting the Klonoa games rereleased for modern consoles. Digital Foundry I think mentioned that the Switch release is disappointing and has performance issues, but hopefully it will be good on other platforms?

Been waiting for a good tennis game to rival the old ones from the older Playstations…but not holding my breath.

Any wallet threats this week? I’m looking forward to Escape Academy coming to Game Pass.

Tuesday (7/12/22):

  • XEL (PC)
  • Time on Frog Island (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC)
  • Garden Story (Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

Wednesday (7/13/22):

  • Loopmancer (PC)
  • Kingdom Gun (PC)

Thursday (7/14/22):

  • Clanfolk (PC)
  • XEL (Switch)
  • Escape Academy (PS5, Xbox Serise X/S, PS4, XBO, PC)
  • Eyes in the Dark: The Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom (PC)

Friday (7/15/22):

  • Rune Factory 5 (PC)

Maybe I’ll check this out, otherwise no real threat. Will try Escape Academy on Game Pass though.

This looks amazing. I’ll look for reviews, but if they’re good, I’ll certainly get this one, hoping it will be the modern equivalent of the experience I had with Flashback back in the day. ;)

I never played any Rune Factory game, but I loved Stardew Valley, so I might be tempted by this one. We’ll see.

EDIT: regional pricing for Rune Factory 5 in Brazil is a bad joke, so this one gets a pass (or maybe I’ll wait for a deep sale).

If you play a Rune Factory game, I’d skip the 5th one with all my heart. The first one got a unique charm, otherwise I think 3 and 4 are widely regarded as the best the series has to offer.

Got it. Thanks, I will keep that in mind.

Lots of releases this week. The big wallet threat for me is the Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5. I can’t wait to start racing on orange tracks above Mexico. It was such a wallet threat that I already bought the premium edition upgrade on the last sale, though I think it’s on sale again this week as part of the Summer sale. Any other wallet threats for people this week?

Monday (7/18/22):

  • Stray (PC, PS5, PS4)
  • Fallen Angel (Switch, PC)
  • Into the Breach (Andriod, IOS)

Wednesday (7/20/22):

  • Severed Steel (PS5, PS4)

Thursday (7/21/22):

  • Bright Memory: Infinite (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
  • Coromon (Switch)
  • Hell Pie (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Severed Steel (Switch)
  • Wayward Strand (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, XBO, Switch)

Friday (7/22/22):

  • Live A Live (Switch)
  • Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium (PC, PS4, XBO, Switch)
  • Severed Steel (Xbox Series X/S, XBO)

I guess I’m also looking forward to Stray. It will be the first game that provides value to the money I already spent on Playstation Premium, which is probably going to end up being money wasted, but if Stray turns out well, maybe not! Maybe I’ll get $180 worth of value right from that game! (Fingers Crossed).

Riftbreaker DLC this week also.

I remember from not-E3’s most charming Indie showcase, the one run by Double Fine, the game Bear and Breakfast. Looks like that’s coming out this week! So perhaps my wallet is under threat. Also I’m sure people’s wallets are under threat because of the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this week. And maybe brawler fans are really looking forward to Multiversus? I was never a Super Smash Bros fan, so I don’t know. Sweet Transit is only coming Early Access, so don’t get super excited for that one yet. And even though no one at Qt3 has ever managed to make RimWorld sound appealing, the idea of a console release does get me a little curious because surely having to design a console interface means that the game isn’t as complicated and unappealing as it seems?

Tuesday (7/26/22):

  • Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town (PS4)
  • Immortality [PC, XSX]
  • MultiVersus (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One)
  • Mozart Requiem (PS4)

Wednesday (7/27/22):

  • Arsonist Heaven (PS5, PS4)
  • Path of Titans (PS5, PS4)

Thursday (7/28/22):

  • Bear and Breakfast (PC, Switch)
  • Autonauts vs Piratebots (PC)
  • Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions (Switch)
  • Sweet Transit (PC)
  • LootLite (PS5)
  • CVM: The Jump+ Dimensions (Switch)
  • Lost Epic (PS4, PS5, PC)

Friday (7/29/22):

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (Switch)
  • Digimon Survive (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC)
  • RimWorld: Console Edition (PS4, Xbox One)
  • Madison (Switch)
  • SoS: Pioneers of Olive Town (PS4)
  • Gridform (PC)

I love rimworld but never sit at my computer to play games anymore…so if they somehow made the game workable with gamepads, I will give that a go on my PS4/5

Hell yeah!

Man I hope they port controller support from this back to the PC version

I’m honestly trying to save my money right now so that I can buy Saints Row in August and FIFA 23 in September. I’d be pretty happy if there were no other wallet threats in the near future.

Why FIFA 23? Because it’s going to have the World Cup, and it will be the last FIFA game from EA Sports, and it’s coming out only a month and a half before the actual World Cup starts. So I can’t wait for it to hit EA Play, and since it will be the last EA Sports FIFA game, I actually want to own it and keep it. So I really hope it’s one of the good ones. (I don’t care about club football, only the World Cup).

Everdell comes out on this Thursday too for those that like digital boardgames. I have heard good things about the game but apparently takes up a lot of table space so I may try out the digital format.

Oh wow. My son and I really enjoy Everdell. The art and the way the board unfolds is a lot of the charm though. I hope the art and ‘feel’ of the game transfers over. It’s good imo.

Holy smokes, it’s like a spiritual return of Geometry Wars you guys!

Wallet Threat Level Orange!

Yes, please! That looks promising.

Even that simple gif made my head hurt >_<
