I could imagine the location being used in a Dr. Strange (or Eternals?) scene and they wanted it to have the same trees (and lack of a duck?).

Or maybe, based off a podcast discussion I heard about Black Widow (production-related maybe-spoiler) using the same office location as a scene in Loki, they want to make it look DIFFERENT from a scene in another movie or show! Since all this stuff is filmed around Atlanta.

Pretty sure that mountain was not filmed in Atlanta.

Someone on the WV team is enough of a James Cameron perfectionist that the trees bothered them a lot and they got tweaked/fixed and they pushed the edit through.

Someone else over at Disney is now feeling vindicated in flagging that people will notice even a little tweak like this and cause a big deal.

Just binge thru this. After the meh that is Black Widow this is much much better. In the end it is all pew pew pew but it dared to go weird in the beginning, which is great.

The pew-pew action parts are undeniably super dumb. But at least the creators also know that they are super dumb and partially subvert the expectation with the Vision confrontation.

So is it possible to enjoy this at all if you’re only sort of vaguely familiar with Marvel comic book stuff?

Very much so - my SO did, and she never read any comics, and have only seen a few of the movies. Much recommended! Its also, in my opinion of course, one of the best series recently.

Just give it until episode three, no matter what.

I feel today most shows try to show EVERYTHING at the beginning, because if people have things in their show they don’t understand, they get frustrated and complain.
This show does not at all show everything, and some things only begin to make sense after episode three - but the payoff is worth it.

Cool! That seems like a reasonable and fair investment of time to start figuring out if it’s going to work for me or not. Thanks!

If you’re familiar with the Avenger’s movies then you’ll be fine. If you don’t know the characters from the movies at all, you might not find it particularly interesting.

Also be sure to check Disney+’s “Marvel Legends” series. Before each new Disney+ show, Disney puts out a “Marvel Legends” episode about the characters, which are short intros which remind us about who the characters are. There’s an 9-minute Wanda Maximoff episode and a 8-minute Vision episode which will recap each of their previous appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I watched this without having much knowledge of the MCU. After watching it I enjoyed it so much I proceeded to watch all the Marvel movies.

I think they said that as episodes one and two are more send ups of sitcom episodes and it’s not until episode three that things start expanding beyond that core concept.

I think you’ll probably dig it.

My family went in knowing nothing but what was in the movies. I think we all thought it started slow but by the 3rd or 4th episode it became more interesting.

Wow, they’re really desperate to get lots of content on Disney Plus I guess.

They always have to have new stuff from now on, forever.

They could do a lot worse than finding something for Kathryn Hahn to star on, and I’m sure it won’t be hard to come up with some story for the character.

Amen.

I thought she was a lot of fun in WandaVision, and I’m not sad about this at all.
