Ok guys. I am writing a song and I want to do some sound captures from old TV shows. What’s the best way to do that so that I can insert it into a song (say with Cakewalk or some other music program)? Do I just use a microphone and plug it into the USB somehow or soundcard somehow? Do I need special software to record and convert it to a wav file or some other sound file? I am not really asking for all the details on splicing and everything. I am really just trying to do a capture of a non-digital medium (in this case, my television).
Run an audio cable from the TV or VCR into the line in of your PC’s sound card.
Set the input source to be the line-in, fire up Sound Recorder, and you can get a WAV file.
