It was gerrymandering based on a non-census year.

I am now able to recycle 4 things.

corrugated cardboard
newspapers and inserts, no magazines
tin and aluminium cans
milk like jugs, white and clear only

Everything else has to go to the landfill. if plastic is not recyclable, it’s time we start using something else for our packaging. I can’t even recycle my paper bags anymore… or office paper, and the only reason I use disposable bags is either I forget the reusable ones or I didn’t bring enough with me at any given time. It sucks. I used to fill a huge blue bin, not it mostly has shipping boxes.

I probably posted this before, but it’s one of my favorite podcasts and this episode is relevant to @Gordon_Cameron’s post:

Yes it is. One option is compostable packaging, which is making big inroads around here; most of my lunch take-out options have switched over to that. So much so that I judge the ones that haven’t.

My parents’ city in Texas doesn’t even allow cardboard recycling, of any type.

Yeah, there’s a lot of that here too. Not as much as there should be, but it’s much better than a couple years ago. Magazine wraps, disposable cutlery, containers, that sort of thing.

We recently spent a weekend on the coast. Twice we got to use paper straws. One of them was rather amazing. It held up for a long time and even then was usable. The other, well, better to drink your beverage quickly while the straw was still usable.

I had thought the Chinese refusing our recyclables was a result of Trump’s tariffs, I didn’t know it was a policy that began before that.

I’m a big fan of lids you can drink from easily (the Starbucks ones are really nice). Mainly because when I get a paper straw I just rage now. :D

Plastic straws are still dumb though.

I got our kids 8 metal straws. We hardly ever use them, but I’m glad we have them.

Plus I bet they can double up as personal defense weapons in a pinch.

I bought some metal boba tea straws and you could do some serious damage with those.

Love that scene in that movie.

It is not what I would call a classically good movie, but it has a lot of great elements. Whole less than the sum of parts type deal.

But those parts are quite entertaining.

I think what you meant to link was
“I ambushed you with a cup of coffee!”

I love that movie.

-How’d they finally get to you?
-They gave me a grasshopper.

I Kickstarted one of these and use it all the time. Strong rubber interior allows it to break down and fold to go back in the case when not in use.

Yeah they were nose-diving a few years back and that was after all the talk about the centers losing money even before that. I read once that co-mingling, making it easy was part of the issue but I am not sure anymore.
