Planning to go to the L.A. one. I’d rather not but I have the time, so probably should.

My photo of the rally in Sydney, there were loads more people to the left and right as well:

Professional photo:

Estimate was at 80,000, which is huge for a protest in Sydney about anything.

I would really recommend going to a local rally. Not because it will change anything at the macro level, but because I believe it is good for our health. It is easy to feel alone and cynical in this world, particularly as the environment continues to be destroyed and very few people in my life seem to care. Coming together with a large group of like-minded people, I felt a sense of community and it brought back some hope (especially when I saw how many young people are passionate about this).

Timed my run today so I could go by the march in downtown Grand Rapids this afternoon. Stopped and walked along for a bit, good crowd, several hundred at least and more arriving when I left. Posted a few pictures over here:

We had over a thousand here in Raleigh, but nothing like Sydney there, wow! clap

Hundreds of thousands in lower Manhattan!

Pershing Square, Los Angeles:

Al is back with an op-ed:

Sorry I missed this. Yes, renewables use land too. But it’s a lot easier to find a suitable site (e.g. exposed to the wind or sky), undertake environmental studies and gain approvals.

Business associations, the mayor and councilors, and the public don’t show up for public open houses for a solar farm.

Business associations, the mayor and councilors, and the public don’t show up for public open houses for a nuclear power plant, because they’re protesting, shouting, and blocking access to the public open house.

That suggested that the problem isn’t related to land use, and is related to public perception.

I got goosebumps looking at some of those pictures. There is a lot of political crap going on. Globally and domestically. Epic, insane levels of bad stuff. But please. For the love of humanity and it not ending. Or at least not having a terrible, violent adjustment very, very soon. Please. Let this movement catch on.

The Mile Island has been decommissioned.

That’s 820 megawatts which will now be coming from burning dinosaurs.

Whimper? Whisp.

I couldn’t make it, but my friend;s son, had one of my favorite signs.

*than

Awesome sign though. :)

I always liked “my girlfriend is like the square root of -100, a perfect 10 but imaginary.”

There’s not a lot to inspire hope these days, but here’s something:

This might be the best gif ever.

You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing.

There will not be any solutions or plans presented in line with these figures here today, because these numbers are too uncomfortable, and you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is.

You are failing us, but young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say we will never forgive you.

Give 'em hell, Greta!

Seriously, she is a freakin’ hero. Not that she wants to hear it.

Ugh, that is so disgusting.
