Back to the Australian bushfires, the Murdoch propaganda machine is struggling to mislead a plurality of voters:

This seems a little misleading; Amazon is donating 690k. Jeff himself should also donate. And by misleading I mean they’re talking about Amazon the company while comparing to Bezos’ wealth.
“Bezos donates fuck all” is the actual headline then.

A more realistic timeline:
“Climate Change isn’t real”
“Ok, Climate Change is real, we’re just not convinced it’s caused by humans.”
“It’s too late to do anything about it.”
Climate Change deniers die from old age
Earth becomes hellscape
You need to be more optimistic like me! Climate change will kill everyone (including them) within our lifetimes!
A break from the unrelenting sad news that is the Australian wildfires:
"Wollemi National Park is the only place in the world where these trees are found in the wild and, with less than 200 left, we knew we needed to do everything we could to save them,” Mr Kean said.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service, backed by the Rural Fire Service, kept their efforts largely a secret to avoid revealing the location of the Wollemi pines.
“When the pines were discovered in 1994, you might as well have found a living dinosaur,” Mr Kean said.
Cris Brack, an associate professor at the Australian National University, said fossil evidence indicates that the trees existed between 200 and 100 million years ago and were once present across the whole of Australia.
Ah, the always shy Pinosaurus!

Update on the apocalypse in Australia:
NSW has been getting alot of rain the past two days, except…
As much hatred as I have for the Australian government and their propensity to wreck the environment, the effects of climate change are a collective failure and we are all to blame (although some much more than others, we all know who).
Twitter thread pointing out the new front against climate change: mitigation to distract from emission reduction for
continual expansion of the fossil fuel industry (see below.)
(edit: I tried spoilering them but that kills the twitter links from rendering, posting a few instead.)
The truth I fear is almost more depressing – the rich old fuckers who bankrolled denialism will scoop up the good real estate and be best equipped to survive a warmed earth while hundreds of millions (or more) of less-well-off people suffer.
We’re probably about due for a climate-focused Metropolis remake. Maybe that’s what Elysium was, though I didn’t see it.
Careful what you post, dude. My blood pressure.

What’s going to kill us first, Gordon? Our rising blood pressure or the rising temperature?
Part of me admires Thunberg immensely, and part of me thinks “Poor kid. why should she have to do this shit instead of a professional IPCC spokesperson?”
The reason, of course, is that a professional IPCC spokesperson would be ignored. Thunberg is a textbook example of a person having greatness ‘thrust upon them.’
Her rhetoric is starting to sound increasingly ‘radical.’ This is entirely appropriate to the nature of the crisis, of course. She is one of the few public figures to match her tone to what is actually happening. But the ‘grown up’ world doesn’t operate that way, so she is starting to appear like a visionary or a madwoman. She is neither – she is just bluntly stating the situation – but the times are out of joint. Our psychology is incapable of coming to terms with the crisis. Only shooting wars unlock that aspect of our collective psyches.
The fact that the U.S.A. is leaving the Paris accord seems to outrage and worry everyone, and it should. But the fact that we’re all about to fail the commitments you signed up for in the Paris Agreement doesn’t seem to bother the people in power even the least.
Any plan or policy of yours that doesn’t include radical emission cuts at the source, starting today, is completely insufficient for meeting the 1.5-degree or well-below-2-degrees commitments of the Paris Agreement.
And again, this is not about right or left. We couldn’t care less about your party politics. From a sustainability perspective, the right, the left as well as the center have all failed. No political ideology or economic structure has been able to tackle the climate and environmental emergency and create a cohesive and sustainable world. Because that world, in case you haven’t noticed, is currently on fire.
Also, watch this idiot moderator try to treat Thunberg like a teenybop personality, and watch her response:
