Carolina at Tampa Bay… Chris Sims will continue to look bad
Chicago at Minnesota… It looks like Chicago found an offense. Scary.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh… I’m a Carson Palmer believer
Green Bay at Detroit… This game will suck. Kitna will suck less than Favre.
Jacksonville at Indianapolis… Tough call, but I bet Leftwhich loses this one for his defense.
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo… these two teams have been tough for me to pick so far. Now they’re playing each other. Great. Jets by a nose.
Tennessee at Miami… Tennessee will compete with Oakland for worst team in football this year. Both owners suck.
Washington at Houston… The Redskins are just bad enough to blow it on the road to a less talented Houston squad.
Baltimore at Cleveland… The Ravens aren’t SB bound, but they’re good enough to dominated the Browns anytime, anyplace.
N.Y. Giants at Seattle… My head says Giants but my heart says 'hawks. Always go with your heart.
Philadelphia at San Francisco… blowout win for the Eagles
St. Louis at Arizona… Green might just be the most overrated coach in the game. His team lacks discipline. But they’ll pull out a home win over the inconsistent Rams.
Denver at New England… this one won’t even be close as the Pats will put on a good enough performance to have everyone saying Superbowl again. They’ll be wrong, of course.
Atlanta at New Orleans… all the bombast about “biggest homefield advantage in the history of the NFL” has already gotten old. And it won’t matter against an Atlanta squad that will generate buzz this year but will fold up shop by December.

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo…Playing at home, McGahee finally has a monster day
Tennessee at Miami…will be close, but home team gets the edge against weak D
Washington at Houston…Hapless Redskins extend skid.
Baltimore at Cleveland…McNair’s luck runs out. Frye rushes for winning TD
N.Y. Giants at Seattle…Given a decent opponent, Seahawks finally awaken

St. Louis at Arizona…Bulger and Holt wake up and hook up for 2 TDs
Denver at New England…Plummer recovers senses, but it’s not enough
Atlanta at New Orleans…Tandem of Vick and Dunn too much for Saints

home team wins

jeffd == incredibly lazy.

yep!

Frankly for me it’s just not worth it to pick winners. I’ve only seen a handful of teams play at this point, so for the most part I’d just be mirroring the prognostications of my favorite football writers.

Why post?

To get my postcount up!

Seriously: I enjoy participating. The side discussion that goes on around people’s picks is the good part.

Cool. I pick DeMeco Ryans to finally lead Houston to victory. I hope to see Vince Young to play a lot more this week as well.

Well if we’re side talking here…

I think the Bucs are going to take the Panthers this week, despite Simms having a ho hum (but not horrible) game. Not because they are my local team, but because the Bucs are managing to play well below their ability… I think the Panthers are pretty shot on offense without Smith and something happened to their defensive line… not sure what.

I suppose it is kind of chicken of me to offer a generic prediction. So I’ll put my balls on the line too:

Carolina at Tampa Bay
Chicago at Minnesota
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh: I think Roethlischicken is still hurt; at the end of the MNF game he was clutching his stomach in pain.
Green Bay at Detroit: Green Bay’s gotta win a game this season right?
Jacksonville at Indianapolis: Colts have no running game; Jacksonville has some realy good defense.
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo:
Tennessee at Miami
Washington at Houston
Baltimore at Cleveland: As aaron schatz put it: “Watching Notre Dame, the Browns, and then the Jets-Patriots game, I have just one question: What are they serving the coaches in the Patriots cafeteria, and why doesn’t Belichick eat any of it?”
N.Y. Giants at Seattle: I refuse to pick here.
Philadelphia at San Francisco
St. Louis at Arizona
Denver at New England: Plummer’s first two games last season were terrible. Then he got his shit together.
Atlanta at New Orleans: Yeah everyone likes the feel good story of NO but the fact is they won two close games against bad teams.

It could be because Brentson Buckner was cut back in March. He was one of their defensive captains and a stud DT besides.

Wasn’t that right after he got hit in the appendix by Mike Peterson?

shadarr: Probably. Either way he was clearly in pain - so I don’t think he was even close to 100%. They made a big deal harping on how normally it’s 4-6 weeks to recover from that surgery and he was playing only 15 days later. Plus he’s got a short week this week. Either way it adds up to him not having a good game on Sunday.

I think it’s going to be interesting to see how much game time Tennessee gives Vince Young. He’s already the first QB pick to see real game time, and his production in 1 quarter exceeded that of Collins in 3 quarters… including points on the board.

If VY gets, say, better than a quarter to work with, and Tennessee isn’t too far down by then, I think they’ll beat Miami. But if he gets less than that, or if he’s given the start, I think Miami wins.

This is the kind of thinking that gets villagers killed.
