Weird QT3 bug

Has anyone else lost their ability to see new posts? Up till yesterday, every time I came to qt3, only threads with new posts since my last visit were bolded. Yesterday (and today) every single post on the board is now “new”.

I didnt clear my history, log out, log in, change my browser, or change my settings in any way that normally would cause this.

Any ideas what might have happened?

Happened to me on my first visit today, but after that it was fine. BobJustBob mentioned something about stusser changing the way the board remembers your last visit.

It seems to have reset everyone’s “last visited” date to a week or so back. Probably related to the stealth board upgrade that just happened.

Same problem here.

Yeah, the new posts view is all screwed up for me as well. It’s not fixing itself either.

It was changed due to a user’s request, and it should fix itself as you continue to use it. It’s more server intensive, so we may have to roll it back, but hopefully not.

I like that it doesn’t automatically set all threads to read after a period of time (I could never leave my browser at Qt3 because threads would eventually be marked read, even if I didn’t read them), but does anyone know if there’s a “mark all threads as read” button?

Yes, click on forum tools and a little popup should pop up with “mark this forum as read” in it. I never use that stuff, but I guess some people have different reading habits.

Ohhhh… I’ll endure all the other issues if it doesn’t auto-mark thread as read after some timeout. Awesome.

Marking the forum as read fixed all my problems…

I think my only problem was that I liked being able to see a clear dividing line of where there were new posts to threads since the last time I visited, even if I hadnt read the threads the previous time.

I’m with Wader on this, there are plenty of threads I don’t read and having to mark each forum as read just to know where you left off on a previous session is bothersome.

Where you left off is clearly demarcated by this:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

Er, that is, if you get around the place by bookmarking the “New Posts” link, of course. Which is what the cool kids do.

Ah, that ‘mark forum as read button’ really did the trick. Now everything will work exactly as I always wanted. Thanks for that!

Here’s the explanation for the new forum setting.

Deleting qt3’s cookie works as well.
