I’ve been looking at my game list and got curious to see which ones I played the most. What are your 10 most played games on Steam in terms of hours? Here’s my list:
One thing I’m noticing is that many of those are my favorites, but not necessarily. Some of them are just very time-consuming. In retrospect, King’s Bounty and Mount & Blade overstayed their welcome. I do not regret a single hour of Desktop Dungeon, though.
Y’know I searched for that feature and I’m not sure it exists. I’d like to know if it does! I just scrolled the whole thing for the heck of it (Sooo many games! Did I really buy this?).
I should mention that LEGO Marvel Heroes and Plants vs Zombies are mostly because of my kid, who loved to watch me play those (and later play them himself). And The Last Remnant should be there, but it isn’t because I played it mostly in offline mode, so the hours I played didn’t register with Steam.
I’m a little surprised to see Starbound at 43 hours. I didn’t know I had played it that much, and I remember stopping because I wanted to really play it on release. I suppose it might well beat Skyrim in my list soon enough. :)
Also note that plenty of my most played games are not on Steam (Guild Wars 2, Witcher 1/2/3, Civ 2, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc.) so that list only really reflects the games I play on Steam (when online), not the games I actually played the most.
My list got ruined by Wings of Prey. I think the launcher was still running and it counted that time. It was a decent diversion, but not 212 hours worth!
It’s a good reminder that until recently, most of my big hitters were not played through Steam. Like Path of Exile, I’m sure I have a LOT of hours in that. LOTR Online. Diablo 2. Oh God, Diablo 2. So many hundreds of hours over so many years.
I sometimes leave games running when I go to work and also, for the Football Manager games I would create custom leagues and then run them on vacation mode days at a time to see how the league would hold up with decades simulated so that’s why the hours are a little, skewed.
BTW, in case some of you don’t know yet, one of the cooooooolest features of this new forum is that you can simply copy-paste images right into your post. I use Greenshot to select a region, save to clipboard, then paste to the forum. It’s magic.
Wow, that’s a lot of hours :-(
Try not to be too judgy…
I too let games idle a lot but even if my idle time is 10-15% my hours are still way high. Many of these games are ones I reviewed, so I was writing while I had the game open. I reviewed Age of Wonders III, Pillars of Eternity, Eador: Masters of a Broken World, Fallen Enchantress: LH.
Actually, The Witcher 3 should be in there but I have it on GOG at over 200 hours.
