What browser do you use?

I’m curious here. I want to see if anyone uses alternative browsers.

Why XPav, I’m glad you asked that question. I use Mozilla Firebird. The extensions you can get for that make the thing the bees knees. Heck, it even has a “porn file browser” extension that Tyjenks would like that allows you to automatically increment the number on a picture file and go to the next one, as well as a leech extension.

Plus its got all the gestures that opera has, built-in popup blocker and no annoying ads.

Great question!

I use Avant, which is basically a kick-ass shell that works over IE6. But it gives all the cool functionality that MS hasn’t bothered us giving, like Tabs and Pop-Up Browser. Plus it’s faster, as it uses Multiple Document Interface technology.

Yeah, Avant here too. Greatest thing ever.

I use Konqueror at home and IE at work. I guess that’s all I have to say about that.

Never heard that described as a “Technology” by Microsoft. Then again, its been around for about a zillion years, and Microsoft never takes anything out…

NetCaptor here. If it didn’t automatically alphabitize my Favorites in the menu, then it would be…perfect. But my trial just ran out, so now I have to register.

Avant sounds good. I need to try it before registering.

I use Firebird at home (just 0.6 milestone, haven’t tried messing with a nightly build), but at work, I have to use a FUCKING MAC WITHOUT OSX, so I’m relegated to WaMCom, the closest Mac OS Classic-compatible version of Mozilla 1.3.1, which isn’t quite as cool as Firebird, but it’s better than IE (IMO).

You mean they use Macs in the CGW offices? Who knew? I smell coverup!

Actually, the only CGWers who use Macs are the art boys. I’m, er, somewhere else. Since my “exit” issue doesn’t hit for a coupla months, all I’ll say is, er, I’m on a Mac and I have a console in my cubicle right now.

Mozilla 1.3 here. I should get around to trying out Firebird at some stage. And finishing about 15 games. And being more romantic. And searching google for pictures to post here.

Mark should post the actual usage from the stats to see real-life, what is being used. On most of my sites, it is 90% IE. Though some people set other browsers to report as IE.

I just use Mozilla. :)

I use IE to browse but everything else (mail, newsgroups) is good ole Netscape 4.77, and Netscape 7.2 for backup. I hate outlook and outlook express for email, period.

etc

Another Avant fan.

I’m using NetCaptor with IE6. Only godless commies use alternative browsers.

I use Opera. But then we all know by now that I’m a godless commie.

Must check out firebird though, to see if it’s really got everything I like about Opera plus porn extensions. :)

Another vote for Mozilla here.

I like everything that folks have already mentioned, plus it has an additional bonus. It looks/feels exactly the same on multiple platforms. For someone who spends 8 hours a day working on a Red Hat Linux desktop and then goes home to win98 desktop, that sameness factor can really help eliminate the “oh-shoot-I’m-using-shortcut-keys-from-the-other-browser-AGAIN” syndrome.

firebird 0.6 crashed royally when i was trying to print something offa mapquest.com the other day.

SUCKS TO YOUR BROW-SAR!

I use Opera.
