What Games Are You Looking Forward To In 2023?

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Plus the usual shit that might come out eventually:

Bayonetta 3 (after it inevitably slips)
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Company of Heroes 3
STALKER 2
Baldur’s Gate III
Starfield

It feels like every game in development that’s been announced is coming out in 2023.

2022, a good year to play stuff in the backlog. :)

Capes

Dredge

I had no idea my life was missing an eldritch mystery fishing game until I saw this today

Yep, DREDGE may be my goty 2023! ;)

Really? I don’t know that I see that sort of potential. I suppose it depends on just how deep it goes

Superfuse looks positively amazeballs. Straight to the top of my 2023 watchlist

That does look great. 2023 seems optimistic though. It’s coming to Early Access this fall. Grim Dawn took about a year in EA? So maybe this will be the same?

No, it isn’t. EA in 2023. The Fall mentions are out of date. Don’t care, I’m super excited. The fuse system looks so cool.

Are you going to play the SteamFest Demo that’s available now?

Already played one of the two classes. It’s quite short and had some noticeable hitching when activating abilities, but having a chance to play around with the skill system was so cool. You don’t get to do too much, because they start you at level ten, but enough to see how it will work.

JFC the front half of the year is absolutely fucking bonkers. Here is my list for the next six month, I’m going to need to donate a lot more plasma.

Almost Certainly Day 1
Fire Emblem Engage (Jan 20)
Star Wars Jedi Survivor (March 17)
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May 12)
Diablo IV (June 6)
Final Fantasy XVI (June 23)

Probably Day 1 (Reviews and/or Time Pending)
Forspoken (Jan 24)
Atomic Hearts (Feb 21)
Octopath Traveler II (Feb 24)

When Time Permits (Reviews and/or Time Pending)
Dead Space Remaster (Jan 27)
Hogwarts Legacy (Feb 10)
Labyrinth of Galleria - The Moon Society (Feb 14)
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (March 3)
Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC (April 19)

Noteable games (for others) that I don’t know anything about, already own elsewhere, or are not myyself into but mention them to put them on radars.

One Piece Odyssey (Jan 13)
Monster Hunter Rise (Jan 20)
Theaterhthm: Final Bar Line (Feb 16)
Wild Hearts (Feb 16)
Dragon Ishin (Feb 22)
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe (Feb 24)
Altelier Ryza 3 (Feb 22)
PSVR2 (Feb 22)
Destiny 2 Lightfall (Feb 28)
Scars Above (Feb 28)

Street Fighter VI (June 2)

Me: @Scotch_Lufkin what games are you buying in 2023?

@Scotch_Lufkin : Yes

Fire Emblem Engage
Capes
Jagged Alliance 3 (not sure when this is due)
One Piece Odyssey (depending on reviews so maybe)
Balders Gate 3 (but I already purchased it so not sure it counts)

Master of Magic (because I will not play it till we hit 2023 with so many games I still have; Persona 5, TO Reborn, Midnight Suns)

I had forgotten about this - I think it’s going to end up being super, super good!

Jagged Alliance 3 is also on my radar, but definiately after we get some reviews. Open mind and all that, but a heavy dose of “I’ll believe it when I see it”.

I forgot these two:

From the Trese Brothers:

Hopeful for this one:

I already own My Time at Sandrock and Slime Rancher 2, but am waiting to play them until their full releases in 2023, so those would be top of my list.

I’m also looking forward to:

Storyteller
Paperback Adventures
Oxenfree Lost Signals
For the King II
Writer’s Block
Starsector
Starfield
as well as (hopefully) full release versions of Cosmoteer, Sweet Transit, and Songs of Conquest

Looking at that, it’s far more games than I usually have on a list like this. I’m not particularly on top of upcoming releases, so games of interest usually only get noticed at release when there are reviews and word of mouth. Coming into a year with that many games already to look forward to, it appears that '23 is likely to be a hell of a good year for games. That’s especially nice because '22 has been pretty bleak.

Let’s be realistic

:P

I’m just piggybacking on @BrianRubin’s optimism. :)

It’s better to travel than to arrive!

I guess I’m hopeful there a good results from some lesser known games.

Phantom Liberty and Starfield are probably Day 1, and Last of Us will complete my Sony PC collection :)
