I’ll be playing get on a plane and fly to the east coast with the family, which means I’ll be taking along my 3DS. Which should I play first, A Link Between Worlds or Samus Returns?

and a game to be named later - maybe Battletech, maybe Skyrim, depends on what moves me.

Size matters: if you got a small 3DS and large fingers like me, Samus Returns will probably destroy them!

For Space Game Junkie, I’ve got to at least play this:

If I have energy (still sick, so I dunno) maybe:

For myself, I’ve just begun:

And kinda love it. Also the 2.0 patch of

Which makes it feel like a whole new – and much better – game.

Overall, should be a good weekend.

Will be playing some more Final Fantasy XII. Maybe a little AC: Syndicate.

And if time permits, perhaps some of the newer games I have barely touched…RE 2, Monster Hunter World, or RDR2.

But been getting some serious choice paralysis with my backlog and now having Game Pass… my 13 year old self would have some kind of envy stroke if I could go back in time and show him the ridiculous amount of video game content I have access to.

I remain firmly in the thrall of

I’ve reached the 5* village quests (I guess it goes to 10*), and am still happily bouncing among the dizzying range of different weapons and styles. My latest discovery is aerial switch axe, which is amazing for jumping on top of monsters.

I swear I could just watch and listen to the intro of Battletech all day. So well done.

I tried the demo, but was taken down by the loading times (I am guessing the game would run probably better from the internal memory). Do you mind me asking a couple of questions? I haven’t played the series since the Monster Hunter 2P on the PSP, and I am not sure I am in the shape to get back into it, but the possibility to suspend the action (what I thought was really great on the PSP) makes this version appealing. I am curious to know if there is an online mode, and if there are any guidances — I remember buying a bible of a thousand pages, a purchase that was pretty much required to navigate the game back then. Is that still the case? None of the reviews I have read mentions anything about either thing.

I’m paging @Mike_Cathcart as he has hunted a lot of monsters in his time.

Yes, there’s an online mode. I’ve mostly been playing portable and solo, but have hopped on a few times, and it’s worked just fine. Probably even better if you have friends who you can coordinate with.

Even solo, you have two cat helpers whose skills and equipment you can customize, so you’re not just 1v1 with the monster.

As for guidance, the game teaches you plenty to get by, but there are major rabbit holes you can go into as you try to master weapons, or figure out optimal gear. https://mhgu.kiranico.com/ has everything you might want to look up about equipment and such, and Gaijin Hunter on Youtube has a great series of detailed tutorials on each weapon.

My recommendation would be to know that those resources are available, but just enjoy the game and don’t sweat it too much until you feel like seeking them out. Weapons and armor seem to be balanced so that you don’t HAVE to be swapping them out all the time – older stuff can be upgraded to be close to the power level of new stuff. And the weapon guides are overwhelming if you watch them too soon. I would say to do a hunt or two with a weapon in Guild style and start get a feel for it, and then once you have some context, watch the video.

I’ve been playing through the Persona series and enjoying it. Currently just about finishing up Persona 3 I think, then heading into Persona 4 some time this weekend hopefully. Maybe a little more DOTA Underlords if there’s time.

That’s all assuming I can stop watching the MTG Mythic Championship, of course.

Funny how, stuck into the memories of merely a decade ago, back when relying on wikis and youtube wasn’t a thing, it didn’t even occur to me!
Thank you for your reply.

Yakuza Kiwami 2, most likely. And Stardew Valley. If I get to play something.

Will probably keep playing Watch Dogs 2. Just wrapped up the mission string where Dedsec takes down NotScientology. If only that could happen IRL.

Going to absolutely fly through the hours with Yakuza Zero, seriously I pick this game up and next thing I know it is sudden hours later somehow.

Turns out the answer is mostly just:

FFXII on the Switch, handheld mostly. Had it back in the day but couldn’t totally get into it mostly due to the way my PS2 was setup and a pain to play for any length of time. I’m honestly going thru the amazing guide (kindle version) and just loving it! I had the guide in paperback format up until a few years ago during a move when I’m pretty sure I finally tossed it. And on the Switch and Xbone versions you can reset your license board. Actually, now I’m going to start digging to see if I happen to still have that original guide!!!

Spent my time on Sam Sho Special on Steam. First SNK fighting game with really good netcode that’s legal.

they are billions - survival mode is great - high tension RTS turtling, with each game compressed into 2-3 hours. Excellent design.

I’m not enamored with the campaign, so skipping that for now while they continue to tweak it post 1.0. but it’s flaws may simply be those of all RTS campaigns - in which case I’ll breeze it on easy for the story eventually. Overall the game is well worth it’s current price.

I didn’t think Yakuza 0 was a game for me after watching Tom’s stream, but holy hell, I like this game. It’s a beat 'em up, basically, but the narrative is so good, and the writing and voice acting is great. And I just finished chapter one. So I am playing that.
