Bard’s Tale IV …this new version.
I like potentially goofy, old school pc games that are unsuccessful in hiding that they are made up software things. I don’t know how to explain or phrase that. It looks like a computer game. I like that. This kind of stuff is my real escapism.
And oh my, that theme song, that opener is quite the catchy song.

My PC room is occupied this weekend, so there will be some late night gaming on my Xbox with Game Pass titles like Gears 5 and Dirt Rally 2.0, and maybe try out some of the numerous indie titles on the service as well.

I finally finished XCOM 2 so I can play something else now … <.Starts trawling backlog>
Mostly Gloomhaven. The new beta build is out, with various improvements.
But Queen’s Wish is just waiting for me to dig in.

Undecided between Hearts of Iron IV and Starsector. Finally feel like I understand HoI, but Starsector looks like it checks so many boxes.

I’m 20 hours in and feel like I’ve got a solid grasp on things by now. I tend to play this game about an hour a day before I’m ready to go play Hearthstone or something. That’s usually long enough for me to blitz through a dungeon or other encounter, upgrade some forts, and tweak my party.
I’m enjoying the game and expect to finish it in another 20 hours or so. I’m not convinced there’s a reason to play it through a second time though. I’ll probably try, just to see what different dialogue choices do for me on a second go-round, but if it’s mostly the same I’ll probably play another Vogel game to satisfy my needs.
The sequel just came out and I’ve been reading a lot of positive things about it, so rather than buy it I decided to pull this game out of my backlog and finish it instead. This time I’m making actual progress, because the Xbox One X makes the game 1000x more tolerable than the jittery low-framerate version I played on the OG XB1.

The Surge 2 is a vast improvement over the original, judging by my couple hours played so far. Just so you know.
For Space Game Junkie, more Freespace 2 mods, followed by streaming the entire campaign on Monday. This along with some one-off videos for stuff like Corpoct and Undercrewed.
For me, more EF2000. Now that I’ve gotten it working, thanks to the EF2000 Reloaded launcher, it’s kind of all I wanna play, but I’ll also make time for Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville also, I’m sure.
Probably some No Man’s Sky Beyond in VR, Borderlands 3, and Field of Glory Empires

dude! the PSP pangya is EXCELLENT! none of the grind or freemium design seen in the PC mmo version. this is tied with Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip for best PSP sports game.
Probably mostly Starsector. Maybe a bit of a tinkering in Oxygen Not Included and a season in Rimworld, if I can escape the awesome atmosphere of the first.
Oh, I should dig up the joystick I hid months back and start doing that, as well as continue my reading of the book!

My play-all-the-games-on-my-new-computer initiative was a rousing success in that everything I’ve thrown at this beast looks amazing and runs like a dream, and I’m acutely aware of how many amazing games that I’ll love are out there waiting for me to find time for them.
But the runaway winner, in terms of bringing me back night after night, has been Monster Hunter World. Some might contend that it would be more optimal to knock off a few nice self-contained 5-10 hour campaigns before setting off on a semi-endless gear climb, but the lure of lush alien wildernesses full of spiky behemoths to shoulder-tackle into submission will not be silenced.
Privateer 2. I need an excuse to get blackout drunk ;)
Mostly this, which is a fantastic story-heavy platformer that goes heavily for British 80’s nostalgia which is right in my wheelhouse. Think Manic Miner, Horace Goes Skiing, Thames Television, 10 Print “Hello World” 20 Goto 10 etc. The platforming is tough, but fair and inventive, and holy crap the devs have seriously gone to town on this thing. A love of epic chiptunes and massive pixels is essential.

Also dabbling with other things, including this

and this

Ohhhhh, Scavenger, great pick.
