Thanks for the info. Those all sound like good reasons to fire up LOTRO again. Yeah, I never last long in STO; I play for a week or so and then wander off.
I’ve some toons on Arkenstone but lately I’ve been on Landroval.
Yeah, the space stuff in STO is great, but the ground stuff is terrrrrrrrrrrrrrible.

Yeah, I agree. Last time I tried to play STO, I also had some weird resolution trouble; the game insisted on playing at 640 x 480 or something, and I couldn’t use the UI at all. Weirdness.
Oh if y’all are gonna fire up LOTRO, best to use the standalone launcher and not the Steam one. Apparently it’s not as well updated on Steam.
Damn, that is weird as heck.
STO is the only MMO I’ve ever loved. I mean partly because it’s Trek, but partly because it’s so solo friendly. I don’t play too much anymore, but sometimes I log back in to check out new content. They’re still adding Discovery stuff in there.
LOTRO is insanely solo friendly, FYI.
But I don’t like Lord of the Rings.
Those words were all one syllable. Which one was confusing?

In most languages, words can carry meaning beyond their literal intent - in this case, the word “what” followed by an exclamation point, is used to express disbelief and/or confusion regarding your statement. Thus - its not intended to convey the meaning that Mr. Rubin did not understand the intent behind your words - He merely questions their veracity.

Of all the Lord of the Rings content I’ve consumed, I’ve only enjoyed Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. And I mostly liked those games because of the cool orcs and the wholly satisfying combat (EDIT: Oh yea, and sexy Shelob).
You are not alone. As best I can tell you basically have to have read them as a child to enjoy them as an adult.
The EA RTS games were pretty good, too. Wish you could still find them.
Oxygen Not Included. Although starting to lose steam.
Disco Elysium. The first hour feels excellent.
I’ve never read the Lord of the Rings books, but loved the movies. Sir.
Fair enough. With regards to the books I’ve always kind of regretted that I missed my window of opportunity. As to the movies, well, they’re not my cup of tea but clearly a lot of people enjoy them. And regardless, as noted above, they’ve spawned some stuff I have enjoyed, so I can’t very well complain.
Good lord has this thread devolved thanks to a bunch of mouth-breathing philistines. “Dont like LOTR”. “Never read the books.”
Who let all this riffraff into the room?
Well, you do have to be in the right place in your life (aka have the free time) to read them, and be in the right frame of mind. They’re pretty dense on the lore end of things. In high school I didn’t get through The Fellowship… It wasn’t until I was in college that I read the trilogy through, and that was before all of our modern attention-diverters existed (in the early '80s).
