Ditto, congrats!

Congrats @vinraith! I hope mom and baby are doing well.

Also, @Rod_Humble, did you play the rock band management game? It sounds sort of interesting. Any opinions or impressions?

And lastly, Siri wanted to AutoCorrect congrats to coongrats… WTF Siri.

Congrats @vinraith ! I played that game about 10 years ago. It’s pretty awesome, but it has some difficulty spikes here and there. Really worth playing, though. Lots of fantastic, endearing moments you can’t really get anywhere else. So enjoy it, and remember, sleep when the kid sleeps!

Congrats @vinraith! First one? The parenting thread is that way.

Thanks everyone. Rather than clutter up the game thread I’ll take it to the parenting thread but, in short, mom’s OK, kid’s OK but still in the NICU coming up to speed and may be for a bit longer.

Make sure you have baby-safe devices to put Minecraft on.

Gotta get 'em started early so you’ll always have someone to beat you in Mario Kart

OMG Mario kart.

I bought my non gamer ex a 3DS, then taught her Mario Kart.

She liked it so much she smashed every level within about 4 months, and then proceeded to humiliate me constantly.

Fun times.

One of the first games I got on the Switch, and not a minute wasted imho.

@Rod_Humble, how far into this have you played? I love the concept and initial screen shots of how they systematized the source material, but how long will that hold up?

I guess I’m looking for the values of the Chick Parabola on this one.

Speaking of Minecraft, I found out LAN play just plain circumvents the parental restrictions stuff and played some with my boy last weekend. He was and is completely blown away by having had his dad pootle around in his world. So cute.

So now he’s building something. A surprise. And he can’t wait to share it with me. But I told him, not until the weekend. It’s a parental instinct, to put brakes on shit that get’s em too high.

The funny thing is, that very sesh I also tried minecraft on the VR headset. That actually works really well. That game is so simple, it get’s rendered perfectly fast enough. Still, it made him a bit dizzy and had far less impact on his 7 year old soul than the sheer unimaginable awesomeness of multiplayer.

There’s something of an aphorism in there I think. ;-)

Gonna spend likely all of my weekend practicing planetary invasions in Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander:

Besides some videos of Absolute Territory for Space Game Junkie.

Image could not be loaded for me.

Weird, just tested it in private windows in Firefox and Edge and it worked.

Wait, wait, wait… isn’t that the 7th worst video game of all time?

Image looks sexy to me.

More Monster Hunter GU with my group of virtual friends here. I have been able to take on up to G2 ranks monsters on my own now. Groups hunts are a joyful mess of one pro hunter trying to get the job done with three clowns (me included) running around. Great times.

No it’s the best space game ever made.

I want to believe. But I do know these guys hated it.

They’re wrong.

It was patched. A lot. It was a hugely buggy mess at launch. I could never get into it, even way back then when I had the type of patience to play these types of games.

Wasteland 3 as much as I can! Moving on the second kid now after copious side quest distractions.

Crusader Kings III (Steam)

I’ve played a little too much of this over the last few days, but I expect that to continue through the weekend. Ireland is already mine, but I’m broke, have no allies, and all my heirs are between 0 and 5 years old so marrying them off for alliances might be a bit of an issue. I need to come up with a goal and a gameplan from here.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (Xbox One)

I’d really like to watch and enjoy this cartoon, but I don’t want to spoil the rest of the game. So I picked up the game again several days ago and plan to finish it asap. It’s a great game, and a lot of fun for me, but man I’ve been slow at advancing the campaign.
