I’ve been playing a bunch of Forager since Friday night, when my Humble Choice sub charged for the month. It’s pretty cool!

Yeah, its not really feasable without premium nexus acces. You are on the right track.
I do think Skyrim (The latest version) looks pretty good on itself - The wabbajack mods at a LOT of stuff, and can be overwhelming for a newer player. Especially something as massive as Living Skyrim 2, which is, 150 GB I think. Be aware that you will both download about 100 GB at first, and then the install will add about 150 GB.
It is still by FAR the best way to mod Skyrim, unless you find the process of spending a few weeks yourself on testing fun.

Darkest Dungeon. I am in week 70, have leveled up my first two heroes to level 6. They are precious, I don’t want to waste them against Vvulf … I had an all level 5 party in a week, when level restrictions for missions were lifted. I did the Swine king (lv 3). They were like the untouchables, it felt so great killing monsters left and right, having a laugh all the way to the swine king. After all those miserable weeks, this week was a victory lap.
Now back to miserable dungeneering… I have like 14 level 3 chars that I want to bring up to at least lv 5. And the other 14 are lv 4, 5 and 6 … and then I will enter the darkest dungeon (when I have at least 2 lv 6 parties). I love the gameplay, even after so many hours, it does not feel like grinding. Every fight is tense.

Agreed! Can’t wait for the sequel!
I’m going to take a moment to slightly repurpose this thread, because I figure what I’m putting here doesn’t really deserve a thread of its own. So without further ado, the question I put forth is: what will you be playing in this, the coming spookiest month of the year? I like to line up a few good, well, if not horror exactly then at least slightly spooky games. Or spooky themed, at least. This month, I am looking at playing -
Moons of Madness
Doom Eternal
Call of Cthulhu (the recent Cyanide studios release, not the old Bethesda game)
Observer
and who knows, maybe Ghostbusters or something. Might even consider a hard difficulty run through of Alien: Isolation, which I’ve been too chicken to try in the past.
Anyone else into this kind of thing? May sneak in a few horror movies, maybe even a horror book. Might listen to Thriller, who knows? The sky’s the limit!

Last Halloween season I watched Twitch streamer, Tom Chick, play these sorts of games but I’ve never put together such a plan for myself. As evidenced by my typical weekend gaming plans vs what actually gets played, I think I’m too impulsive to stick to any list of games beyond the first or second.
That being said, I think of DOOM Eternal as more of a 4th of July themed game than Halloween, but I can easily see why most people would file it under horror.
Fatal Frame seems to fall right in line with Halloween, so maybe I’ll give that a shot. I remember trying a demo a few years ago on WiiU, I wonder if it’s on a modern console.
I might use Halloween to finally rewatch Prince of Darkness since it almost caused me to shit my pants in when I saw bits and pieces of it on a friend’s VHS copy in 87 or so. Being a John Carpenter film I’m sure it won’t hold up, but I’ve always been intrigued by what little I remember of its plot.
And as for books, tonight I’m about to finish up the second book by @Vic_Davis, A Desert of Vast Eternities, and instead of looking for more sci-fi this month I think it might be worth delving into some horror. I’m making it a point to start anywhere but Stephen King this year because I almost always start with him and don’t give anybody else much of a bloody chance at all. I think I’ll look for something contemporary if possible, now the trick will be finding something good.
All right, so maybe I’m fudging things a bit because it’s coming to Game Pass on Oct 1? No harm, no foul I figure.

No, I don’t think you’re fudging, and I doubt anybody considers it anything but a good fit for Halloween. Hey, you could also play Costume Quest.
If I hadn’t already played and it’s sequel, I probably would. They’re great little games and fit the theme perfectly.
Not a game as such, and not exactly spooky, but Good Omens seems fitting, and is a great series so far.

I’m just about to wrap up Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night – guess if I had waited I could have claimed it was for Halloween. Same goes for Carrion a while back.
Never been much into horror, either in movies or games. Since October will be a bit of a holding pattern waiting on new hardware and accompanying game purchases, I was planning to just do some sampling from the Game Pass smorgasbord, and at a glance through the list, these all seem appropriately thematic and might make it into the rotation:
- A Plague Tale
- Alien: Isolation
- Resident Evil VII
- Blair Witch
- Dead Island
- Dead by Daylight
- Double Kick Heroes
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Guacamelee 2
- Momodora
- Pathologic 2
- Spiritfarer
- State of Decay 2
- The Walking Dead (various seasons)
- West of Dead
- World War Z
I forgot about State of Decay 2, been meaning to give that a try.

Play this. It’s a really good game. And a decent horror one.
Oh hells yes!
Every time Halloween comes around, I put in for a week vacation just to soak up the horror-themed media. This year, my plan is to take off from Oct. 31 through Nov. 8. It has not been approved yet though, as we are very short-handed at work lately, and even getting a day off for jury duty next Tuesday was a chore. My strategy is that I don’t take Christmas or New Years off, so I’m not fighting anyone for those ‘prime’ vacations. I’m the only one I know that treats Halloween as a religious holiday, so that helps.
However I have not been good about actually doing what I have planned during those yearly vacations. I think the last time I actually accomplished what I set out to do was a few years ago, when I started and completed the excellent game, SOMA.
Last year, my plan was to finally get around to playing Alien: Isolation. I failed. I think I got it installed and tested, but that’s about it. However, it is still installed, so that’ll be a good choice for this year.
Actually, @Thraeg has a nice list there with a bunch of stuff I own but have never played. Likely candidates for me include:
And you mentioned:
Which is another good candidate.
I also recently acquired The Sinking City, which looks promising.
And my girlfriend will be firing up the TV for her yearly dose of 30 Days Of Halloween or whatever it’s called. She’s been complaining lately because the channels that do stuff like that have been apparently cutting back or something. I haven’t been following that scene as closely as her, but I’m sure we’ll be watching a good amount of classic horror, and maybe some newer stuff as well.
I wish you had started a thread about this. It’s a cool topic. You still could, you know. ;-)
Hm, to be honest I wasn’t sure it was big enough to sustain a thread of its own. But, maybe.
Hell, some of my threads had only my OP and no responses. You couldn’t do any worse than that!
That plus Hades.
I haven’t played videogames consistently in months. I still have a lot of other things planned, so we’ll see how this goes.
The Wolf Among Us has been great so far. I love the chapter and episode length, it allows for quick or long sessions. Not normally into this type of game, but this is well done.
Shadow Empire - it feels like I’m at the front end of a brutal, Distant Worlds learning curve, that will be equally rewarding if I can just get through it. I see this taking more of my time in the next few weeks…
