Nothing in this thread matters, so I have no idea specifically what you’re referring to.
I remember having to call tech support back when I had a dial-up account. There was a problem with the ISP’s mail server. It was clearly a problem on their end. I called up tech support and immediately explained that I had already rebooted my computer, had not installed any new programs in the past month, had not made any configuration changes, especially to my mail client which was Eudora, and in no way have I monkeyed around with anything. The tech took me at my word and skipped all the usual nonsense and confirmed that it was a problem on their end. I was the first to call it in.
That was a a pleasant surprise because the usual tech’s answering the phone would walk me through the dreaded script.
When I ran into a problem with blotchy graphics on my Dell monitor, the first time I called in I went through the whole 30 minutes of scripting. It was attached to a Mac, which blew their minds, since they kept asking me to reinstall the drivers, reboot, etc.
Despite it clearly being a hardware flaw, they ended up claiming that it was due to the Macintosh, even though the blotches showed up with no computer attached (you could see it just where the OSD was).
So I called back in and preempted the entire script by just saying that the monitor didn’t turn on at all. That short circuited everything and I got a replacement that worked after that.

That’s because you’re dead inside. Nothing surprises you anymore.
MS Word documents that are “forms” that I am expected to fill out in Word and e-mail back, except that there has been no effort to incorporate form features. That means everything I enter is probably going to fuck up the formatting.
Also, MS has deprecated the form functions I used to use, and I don’t like the new ones at all.
Yes. A company I used to work for sent me these “forms” all the time. A report that I had to complete every week was like this and every week I had to spend an extra ten minutes filling the damn thing out. This same company would also constantly send out other forms done in Excel that we were meant to print out, except they weren’t actually made to fit on one printed page without squeezing it down so much as to be nearly unreadable.

I’m sure it has been mentioned before, but the Tapatalk signatures that people won’t turn off. I feel like Santa… I’m making a list, checking it twice, gonna come to your house and punch you in the face…

Speaking of Word, I wish they’d just go ahead and make Word more stupid. Stop trying to guess my margins, numbering and formatting. You suck at it. Give it up.

Agreed, but you can turn off most of the autoformating/autocorrect “features”. So Word can be as stupid as you want it to be, for the most part.
QFMFT.
It’s not like every single company of more than 10 people on the entire fucking planet doesn’t change the default margins and page setup options to whatever they like to use anyway.

RAAgh. Skyrim threads. If you don’t like them, especially the stupid gimmick ones - then don’t respond to the threads, that only pops it back to the top! If we had all ignored Lynch’s obvious trolling, it would’ve dropped off the front page already, but somebody always has to take the bait and respond.

I really want to bump my Skyrim thread but I’m too scared. The thought of it induces nerd fear into me of being beaten up.
I think there was one poster (Kool Moe Dee, if I recall) who didn’t seem to realize the signature was being added and shut it off after it was pointed out, so credit for that.
And at least it can be shut off.

This forum is surprisingly good about that sort of thing. Another forum I go to, however, a couple of users have had it pointed out to them a number of times and that it’s easy to turn off. I believe one responded, “I NEED IT THERE SO I KNOW WHAT I POSTED FROM MY PHONE AND WHAT I POSTED FROM MY PC!!!”
To add another nerd rage… People still have internal only email address? And to make it worse, they don’t understand! “No, I can’t send emails to judy @ myinternalemail.com. Your company has it set up so you can only get internal emails, from other people at your own company.” “But… why not?” “Because your company… oh forget it…”
My nerd rage rises uncontrollably when I have to wait 2+ hours in a server queue to play SWTOR. #firstworldproblems
Also, being stuck at work for the next four hours so I can’t even join the queue yet. I think my first step tonight is to setup some kind of remote desktop software on my home PC and work laptop so I can join the queue remotely approximately two hours before I plan to head home from the office.
LOL yeah I guess a lot of dudes who only surf using their phones were unaware.
I still laugh every time I see that.
