I’m calling for the death of two adjectives: “Stunning” and “Amazing.” I have not been stunned by anything in a very long, and very rarely am I amazed. Please stop using these casually.

Don’t amaze me, bro?

Gotta vent.

Damn fools who get work emails that are company wide and they REPLY ALL with simple bullshit like “Great news!” or “Terrific!” Best one I got just now was a “That’s GREAT!!” reply all WITH A RETURN RECEIPT REQUEST. $&+%$(&(&#*($(@&#(@

This should be a firing offense.

Dear RPGs and MMOs: It’s “goh-lem.” "Goh-lem," dammit. “Gollum” is a different thing entirely.

The geek license of any writer or voice director who makes this mistake should be summarily revoked.

And now I have to nerd rage about pronunciation guides that aren’t clear in the slightest without reading the fine print. Looking at goh-lem, I’d say…gollum. Rather than (ready, set,) gō - ləm. And those funky upside down ə things. Do you have to stand on your head to pronounce those right? I mean, what’s up…errrr…down…whatever! with them?

Or instead you could click the little voice sample thingy and listen to someone pronounce it.

I already knew the correct pronunciation. What part of nerd rage aren’t you getting?

;-)

If I remember correctly, I was introduced to the word golem 31 years ago in my Dungeons and Dragons Expert Rules book. There was no punctuation key in the Expert Rule book. I’ve been pronouncing it “gollum” for 31 years, and I SHALL CONTINUE TO DO SO, SIR.

My geek license remains intact.

Oh yes I went there!

My wife insists upon watching Syfy brand movies on Saturday mornings. It’s sheer torture, especially when I’m hung over.

I met some woman for the first time today and within 10 minutes she was going on about how her husband has let himself go and how he is not the man she married.

Really, lady?

But they’re so amazing!

I vote that we stake Brian.

I don’t sparkle, silly.

What about your sparkling wit? Hmm? Well??

Stake Brian!

I’m about as far from an Apple Fanboy as you can get but… it’s iPhone and iPod not Iphone and Ipod!!!
