I had a student who said oh em gee all the goddamned time.

This isn’t nerdy per se but it still drives me nuts. I cannot stand people who preface virtually everything they say with “Guess what?” Not the usual opening guess what that is sort of a question, I mean like when people call into radio shows or whatever and they cannot complete a comment without saying “And guess what, etc” several times because almost always it’s something banal or cliche and required no guessing. It’s just annoying verbal padding. This is the worst on sports shows because when a caller opens with “Roll Tide” there is zero guessing as to anything he is going to say.

There’s a guy here at work who opens with that. I like to try to take the guess if I’m quick enough. “You’re not the boy’s father.” “You ate dog food and liked it.” “Those aren’t your real teeth.” It doesn’t phase him one bit.

Blips:

Screen captures smaller than 800 * 600. Websites that have images that act like buttons, but instead just create a new window showing an image of the exact same size when clicked.

Completely agree. I haven’t been to Fileplanet in quite a while, but it seemed like all their screenshots were like this. One would assume “click to enlarge” actually enlarged the picture.

I do on occasion say “what the f” in an attempt to swear less. Nice to know I’m improving my language and annoying others at the same time! :)
