My problem with that style is, fairly or not, it immediately puts me in mind of a low-effort mobile asset-flip, which biases me against whatever’s using it.
That looks right up my alley, thanks for mentioning it! The art’s fine to my eye, the most important thing to me is clarity and that’s crystal clear. ASCII most certainly isn’t.
I played it a ton a year or two ago and it’s really good.
