What movie did you watch?

Scott Haze falls into a hole and finds himself trapped with Kate Lyn Sheil (imagine Dakota Johnson, but with less charisma), where he has no choice but to live out his days playing house in her cramped hole-shack (not a euphemism). But that’s not the only reason this is a horror movie! Seems there’s a bunch of evil stuff going on around the hole, including evil kids, evil nature photography, evil soundtrack, and – it’s hardly a spoiler because it’s in the title and if the road in that title card isn’t supposed to be a sperm, my name isn’t Tom Chick – evil pregnancy.

This is what happens when you follow individual actors, people. You see a movie that hits you hard – pow! – such as What Josiah Saw starring Scott Haze (best Texas Gothic you’ll see all week!) and you come away with an appreciation for a specific actor, and then you watch a movie like The Seeding just because that actor is in it, and boy, don’t you feel silly?

To be fair, there are some decent touches in The Seeding, but it’s mostly the director flexing his music video roots to try something Midsommary. But Sheil is just so flat, and Haze has no one to interact with, and the artsiness just kind of fizzles out. The Seeding never takes root and eventually just scatters with the dust.
