What Non-Liberals Dislike About Liberalism (restored)

Um, comparing turnout in non-presidential election years (2010) with that of years that are presidential election years (2008) is always going to produce a decline in turnout, regardless of what demographic you’re looking at.

But Republican turnout is always higher, which is why almost the whole country is run by them.

Democrats need to vote in mid-terms, because Republicans, especially the craziest ones, do.

More pointedly, old people turnout declines by less than other demographics in midterms, and old people are overwhelmingly Republican.

Sure, but looking at the Democratic turnout differences from 2008 to 2010 and then claiming that the decline is due to disappointment with no single-payer is way wrong.

Yeah, a better comparison would be 2006.

I was going from memory, my bad.
I retract my statement :D

It’s not. It was higher in 2010 and 2014, lower in 2006, about the same in 1998 and 2002. The President’s party almost always loses seats in a midterm election–the average is 30 seats in the House and 4 in the Senate in the 21 mid-terms since 1910.

Damn, now I feel guilty. I know I didn’t bother to vote in 1910.
