What options do I have for MP3 players aren't crap or iPods?

Whew, I’m glad I caught this. Thanks.

That’s a good tip, thanks. I’m getting 2 of these because I’m sick of gym music and I know my wife will like the fm radio option. A few questions for anyone that uses these or similar devices at the gym…

What sort of mp3 holders can carry it, like those stupid armstrap ones or something?

What no-slip headphones have worked out for you? I ordered thesethreecheapiesin the hope that one would be alright.

“Its.”

I love my Zune. Easily the best hard drive music player on the market. And the Zune HD is a decent flash-based one, but it’s not cheap.

CompUSA is running a refurb deal on 30GB Zune for $69. I got one before Christmas and I love it - it’s a bit big and bricky but it holds a ton of stuff for a good price, and I love the software.

Today on Woot! is a 2gb Sansa Clip for $18, shipping included.

I use these. They don’t sound great, but they’re comfortable and don’t move around.

The thing I don’t like about the zune is I can’t use it as portable storage (or haven’t found a way). There’s 30 gigs on there, I have 90% of that left. Why can’t I use it as a USB drive? Admittedly I have an old one, perhaps with the new ones you can.

No, you can’t. But I hope you put more music on your player.

Thanks a lot, I just (upon seeing and reading through this thread) ordered Sansa Fuze 8gb along with 16gb sandisk SDHC card (it will fit in it, right?).

I used to listen mp3s via pda, but I need something specialized, pda sucks for that.

The Fuze accepts microSD cards, not regular SD cards.

So this card:

will not fit with this player ?

So this one should work:

If that’s the case, I will have to cancel the order. Damn I read somewhere that it supports SDHC so I ordered SDHC and thought that was it.

thanks for letting me know btw, I would kick myself in the head if it arrived and didn’t fit!

That’s right. Warning is correct.

Ok, so I will order that micro one and Fuze 8GB.

I am also thinking about giving my Sennsheisers PX 100 to my sister and buying PX 200 - anyone have them?

Fuze description mentions somewhere that it can be expanded with an 8gb MSD card. But I think that was written before 16gb MSD cards were on the market. I guess a quick Google search would show if the 16gb cards work.

So Fuze + Sennheiser PX200 + 16gb microSD card arrived.

I plug in Fuze, update firmware to latest, let it charge, copy some music.Plug it off PC, plug in the headphones, try to play some music, and HOLY SHIT IT IS QUIET!

Is there some secret settings that makes it loud? When the music plays, I rotate the wheel to adjust volume, and it is to the maximum and it is incredibly quiet! Same thing with PX 100 and with the included headphones. I am miffled.Any ideas?

You have GOT THE BE FUCKING SHITTING ME!

So the European fucking commision decides I cannot use loud settings huh?

Wow, just wow.

Resetting the factory settings and choosing America as my location instead of Europe made Volume settings in the “system settings” visible again, and voila, the player now plays as it should.

I hate this european union shit. And I hate all of the world’s governments with passion too.

edit - here is where I found the solution btw

Hah, that’s hilarious.

It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so frakkin’ sad.

Wait, for real? Is there a link somewhere that explains this? I mean that is some borderline fascist bullshit right there.

It’s the EU.
