Maybe don’t attack coffin bearers. It’s a bad look.
The bad look is the point, same as murdering an American journalist in broad daylight – they’re showing that they can do whatever they want and nobody in a position of power will stop them or even criticize them.

Maybe I should change the title of this thread to the “Israel getting more evil” thread. Sheesh.

And here we go again. Watching Israeli politics is like watching a cricket match for me. I have no idea what’s going on or what the rules are, but if someone told me they were just making it up as they go I would believe them.

At this point, we’re doing this to ourselves and deserve whatever is coming.
In a completely different and unrelated manner, anybody from some other country wants to adopt me?

Sadly, you could copy and paste this and it would fit with so many democratic nations right now.
EDIT: You could come live in my basement but by the time the paperwork clears you’ll probably be here just in time for President Trump redux.

I feel for you. About 15 years ago I realised that I belong to a fast diminishing and much maligned minority, and we left.
That said, UK politics aren’t that great either. I comfort myself with the thought that at least my son won’t have to man roadblocks in the west bank.
I wonder if there are any studies on emigration out of Israel? Probably; I’ll have to check. Growing up it was always the other way around. Even recently, when my rabbi was getting ready to retire he seriously considered going to Israel and living on a kibbutz (wound up in Portland, ME, instead, sort of the same thing, only colder!). But I hear more and more of people shifting from Israel, often to the EU or UK.
Not that it surprises me on one level. When I went there it really made me doubt I could ever actually live there.
If it wasn’t so tragic it would be brilliant irony.
It feels like Lehi are finally getting what they wanted.
Sharon accomplished his goal of making peace an impossibility for the foreseeable future. He poisoned Israeli-Palestinian relations, and managed to instigate a cycle of violence and retribution that left most people certain that peace is impossible, which has served to push a lot of Israelis to the right, and deliver Gaza to Hamas.
It’s a tragedy. Israel and the Palestinians both deserve better.
I think we’re at a point now where we can’t rely on Israel to find the way themselves. It’s on the US to come up with a meaningful intervention. I hope they do.

Wait, what? Why is it our responsibility?
Human dignity and freedom is everyone’s responsibility.
What we can do about it, that is a different question though.
But it would be nice, if possible, to stop the rise of Nazi Germany 2.0 before it gets started.
Although maybe we will get ‘lucky’ and it will only be South Africa 2.0.
