Since I bought a new telescope we have had nothing but fog and clouds so this is lovely.

Seems that way doesn’t it? I bring out my telescope when the grass needs rain.
I’d always assumed the dark surface of Ganymede was rocky soil.
They only get one shot at this. It’s basically impossible to repair in space, so they need to get it right.

I love NASA, but Jesus. There are probably people working on it that hadn’t even been born when the program began.
They should have hired Boeing. They would have skipped a lot of steps and gotten it into space faster.

My wife’s uncle worked at Lockheed until last year; some of his work was on the Webb. I kept encouraging him to stay on until they launched it.
I’m glad he retired instead.

Thought this was interesting; apparently there are more supermassive black holes in the sky than we first thought and we’ve been looking right at them.
Built in the US, tested in Dubai, launched in Japan. Gives you some hope for international cooperation.
