That’s essentially upgrading from a 1070 to a 1080ti. Not a really meaningful upgrade.
Depends on what kind of 980ti he has.
@Menzo how much RAM on that card?
I play a level down as I’m neither 4K nor obsessed with high FPS - in fact my 60Hz IPS monitor is great and I intend to keep it awhile.
I was leaning towards the 1660Ti as the sweet spot for 2019-2021 and 1440p games, and also because I am keeping an eye on Cyberpunk 2077 which seems to be aiming for a GTX 1070 or better.
I was feeling that a 2060 is not worth it because it doesn’t really do well enough at ray-tracing. But the 2060S may address that. So I’ll have to decide if the significant increase 1660ti - 2060Super is worth it for me.

That’s me! Bought an RTX2060 at the start of this year and it was my first Nvidia card since the 9*** series. Will be back to AMD for the next decade again.
Cool app incoming from NV to show performance per watt, in real time I guess. Need to highlight those advantages :)

uh…
…and now some marketing charts from Team Green:
That is the funniest chart I’ve seen in a long time. ^like^
I think that’s probably full of shit. Every review site I’ve seen today has the 2060 Super about 10-15% faster than the 2060. That’s a far cry from “twice as fast in most scenarios”.

Looks like my 980ti has 6GB of RAM.
Well I think a 2070S will be a great upgrade, but you can always wait 9-12-18 months for the 3000 series.
Do you have many games that your 980ti struggles with? Mine seems to keep chugging right along in 1440 games.
Maybe next year Intel will come out with a really good low cost high performance GPU and start moving prices down again? Maybe?
I mean otherwise what’s the point in them jumping back into the market?
Personally I think upgrading my 1070 to a 2070s is a worthwhile upgrade performance-wise (~40% faster), but $500 for a video card is a hard sell.
I wouldn’t upgrade from a 1070 to a 1080ti, and the 2070s is slower than a 1080ti. But YMMV.

I’m still chugging along on a 970 @ 1440p. If I don’t want to spend more than 400$, what would be my best upgrade path? RTX yes, no or super?
The tests indicated that the 1080Ti is a monster in 1080p situations. Too bad they didn’t test 1440p, and even worse that they don’t sell 1080Ti anymore!

The tests from that review still show it holding up well at 1440p Ultra too!
