Some of them do complain about the noise, but primarily they just say it’s a poorly performing cooler, and the AIB non-blower coolers are the way to go.

I went blower because I use a very SFF case and there was ample evidence suggesting the blowers were actually a good design (from a noise & throttling standpoint) with room for DIY improvement and a built-in driver feature (auto undervolt) that made it work quite well while also maximizing in-game clockspeed.

I replaced a water cooled 2080 Ti (selling), trading raw power for smaller size and heat generation but still very good performance on my ultrawide monitor — I have zero regrets so far.

Which SFF case? I was looking for a 2080Ti for my Node 304.

Louqe Ghost S1 with a large tophat. With the switch to the 5700XT I was able to remove the tophat.

I just looked at charts and there’s no point upgrading from my 1080ti.

Just butting in to say (also someone also sporting a SFF case) that calling those case extensions tophat was a hilarious decision by those guys

Even funnier if you put it on the bottom.

Well, probably like 10%. That’s the problem in a nutshell, Nvidia is charging too much for their sidegrades.

The 2070 super is almost worth it from my non-Ti 1070, but I think I can wait until Cyberpunk 2077 is about to come out and see what’s available then.

It isn’t, unless you’re moving to a 4k monitor, and even then it’s too slow to really do 4k.

I’m looking for 1440p at 60Hz, and VR which is 1080p x 2 x 80Hz (?). Is the 1660Ti sufficient? It’s a better value.

1660ti is basically a GTX1070, which is great for 1440p at 60Hz. VR minimum specs are like a 1060 these days, as I recall.

There should be new GPUs next year, probably with new gen of consoles.

Bold prediction!

Wow. Our new “friend” was banned till 3019! At the rate the human race and our home planet are going, I think that that is a more than sufficient margin of error. ;-)

That’s when the next generation GPUs will drop.

Just in time for Star Citizen 1.0!

Somebody’s a fucking optimist.
