It’s based on their Ansel backend which is a couple years old.

What’s the current gsync/vsync methodoloy now I have entered the new GPU generation and retired my 970? vsync on in game or not? Limit in-game fps to couple of frames below refresh rate, etc? 120Hz 4k monitor - most new stuff will probablybe below 120 fps, but older stull will be over…

If you believe Blur Busters, who seem to be the accepted authority as they have a lot of legit-sounding tests, it’s best to limit your frame rate to 3 fps below max refresh to ensure GSync is always running in those older games. RTSS is still best for this where in-game options are unavailable as it only adds 1 frame latency.

You should also have Vsync set to On, apparently.

For newer stuff with wildly varying frametimes I find it can be helpful to limit framerate close to your average or worst-case performance level, because constant swings from 120 to 90 or 60 and back all the time can be horrible if you’re susceptible, even with Gsync magic.

Anyone think we will see the next gen Nvidia high end cards in the next 12 months? :|

That would be a full 2 years from the time the 2080ti was announced.

Fine by me hugs EVGA 2020 Ti

Nothing has been leaked. They’ll certainly release something in the next year.

Really depends on whether AMD can scale-up Navi. A 64 core Navi would be extremely competitive with the 2080ti, without raytracing of course.

I’m in wait and see mode. Still plan to build a new rig for Cyberpunk

I think for Cyberpunk your best bet is the 20XX Super line available right now. I don’t think there will be new cards before it comes out.

Probably not, but I also don’t expect prices to rise. Nvidia fabs in Taiwan and Korea, AMD fabs in Taiwan, no tariff concerns. So prices should drop over time, and you never know, maybe new GPUs will come out. AMD could have been stockpiling 64 core Navi GPUs since launch, binning down to 40 cores for the 5700XT, while working on improving their yields.

Yeah I also don’t see prices going up, I mentioned in the other thread that if anything there is a over-surplus now of 2070/2080 cards that didn’t sell, and are now way overpriced even with discounts due to the lower entry prices of the 2070s/2080s.

Whats got me hot and bothered is I gave no real shits about ray tracing up until I saw it in CONTROL. I mean if that is the future of most AAA games lighting, then its a must have. And playing the game without it turned on is denying yourself a visually stunning experience.

The first quarter of next year has Bloodlines 2, Dying Light 2, and Cyberpunk 2077, all games with ray tracing, and its now something I want. Its fine if I have to play at 1080p , but I want the graphics maxed and rtx on, if its gonna look as good as CONTROL does.

Have you seen a good comparison video with/without?

Thanks, will watch it when I get home.

Edit: pretty cool. I need to start thinking about what I want out of this next build.

Why is there no 1080Ti in the ranking?

I gues it rates currently available cards only and despite the 1080Ti still being a monster, you can’t buy them new. Though including the prior gen flagship is still a good idea, imo, to indicate general generational progress. I also found it annoying when shopping for as new card and trying to work out how much genuine benefit moving from a 970 would net.

Agreed.

Thankfully it looks like the 2080 Super is almost identical (though lacking in ray tracing).

It’s in the appendix thing below that chart, along with the 1070ti

Thanks! See it now. Wonder how I missed it!

At 78%, it’s still a monster!

I had to poke around to find it too, as I have a 1070Ti and wanted to see how it stacked up.

Of course, in day to day use on your own particular applications and on your own hardware, these ratings can and do seem to vary. I like the relative positioning of the cards though.
