He’s comparing a theoretical 3080 card to a 2080ti (so a lower tier card), which was obscenely expensive. Like Titan level expensive. And it’s rumor, not info.
Raytracing is coming to consoles so it’s not going anywhere.
Ray Tracing and tech like DLSS with the release of version 2.0 aren’t side grades. There’s more to GPU technology than raw Tflops.
This. Then we can have a Super Duper FTW card!

I’ve never used an MSI gpu, but I’ve been happy with both the 1070 and 2080 I have from evga.

Can’t speak to MSI but EVGA’s customer support is top notch.
Yup, my last three Nvidia cards were EVGA, don’t have a bad thing to say about them.

I got a very cheap MSI 2070 Super Ventus. It ran kinda warm until I activated MSI afterburner (coworker told me to as he has two of their cards) and saw that the fans were defaulting to effectively never be on. 3-clicks to tailor it to my desires Anyway, I really like it.
I used EVGA before for the previous gen and liked them, too.

If you play MS-DOS game and complain a 2070 only marginally improved from 1080, well…

I just bought a 1660 Super so it is probably a bad idea :) I think it’s always just a question of if what you have now is good enough to get you to the fall. Outside of occasional hiccups basically video cards always get faster and cheaper (for equivalent performance).
I should’ve pulled the trigger last night; I’m already in glorious infinite-tabs-open analysis paralysis.

It has a new kind of 2D scaling the 1080 doesn’t
I bought a 1660 Ti and I’m happy with it, because it plays Assassin’s Creed Odyssey great while my prior PC couldn’t play it at all. It also meets recommended (not minimum) for Cyberpunk 2077, so I assume it will last a good while.
That said, I bought it last July, so you’re getting in pretty late in the cycle for that particular card.

I wouldn’t expect the lower-end GPUs, meaning everything under a 2060, to be updated until 2021. That said, nobody really knows what Nvidia is going to do or how AMD will respond. If you can wait, wait. Otherwise, you know, don’t.
I’ve currently got a 950, so I can wait if I play more strategy games and fewer shooters. :)

I am glad I still have 2 kidneys, can sell 1 for a RTX 3080 ti.
I wonder if they’ll accept a kidney that works a bit less as well as the other.
