Interesting. Thanks! I’ll check it out after work.
I honestly don’t know if I feel like chasing the high-end (or even mid-range, if 600+ dollars can be called that) graphics card dragon these days. Especially if the card alone is going to need 300 watts all by itself, and whole consoles can be had for about the same price.
On the other hand I really like the PC’s open platform and all the indie games that come to it. :-(
Only the halo cards will overpower your air conditioner, not a concern unless you’re spending well north of a thousand dollars.
There’s no doubt that next-gen consoles will be much cheaper than gaming PCs in 2020/2021, and unlike the current console generation they won’t be underpowered at launch either.

I am still using a 970 on my 34" ultrawide and it is surprisingly cromulent. I was going to upgrade in Nvidia’s last cycle but as we all know the value proposition was not there.
So true; every time I got tempted, I dug into the numbers and they kept telling me to wait for this upcoming cycle.

I’m anxiously awaiting the final specs. I really hope the high end consumer model is at least 16GB of memory. My dream would be 24 but that seems very unlikely. Right now the only way to get that much memory is extremely high priced pro cards that start at $2500 or $4000. The 1080Ti was a bargain when it came out years ago, giving you close to a $6000 pro card performance in a $700 card. But it’s been what, 3.5 years, and the top consumer model is still at 11GB of memory.
So I guess I’m hoping the SSDs in the consoles drastically raise GPU memory requirements in PCs (because they allow rapid GPU/SSD texture swaps), so NVIDIA has to sell much higher memory gaming cards. This unlocks cheap workstation cards for uses like photogrammetry and machine learning.
Uh, no. They are doing the same thing for PCs they are doing in consoles. (Edit bec of correction below)

Rumors say it’s actually called NVcache, NVlink is something different.
Ok, thanks. Still same result.
Gotta admit, I skimmed the comments and heard him say ‘my sources’ twice and, um, yeah. I’ll just wait until they give us the specs.
I did repeatedly caveat that these were all rumors!
I know, but man, that guy just felt like a walking AMD commercial :)
Okay fine, he was sitting.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love some competition here, just even for the pricing. Still getting an EVGA 3xxx-something, though. That’s just how I am.
Hoping for a 3080 if it’s reasonably priced.

FWIW. I managed to get $900 cash for the 2080 Ti w/ a local exchange. Just deposited the money. Hopefully the Fall launches aren’t paper-only!
Wow. Nice price, mono! And excellent timing.

That’s amazing. How much did you originally pay for it and how long did you had it, if you don’t mind me asking?

August of 2018, as soon as it went up for pre-order from Nvidia, and I paid the whole $1200. $300 for 2 years of flagship service isn’t too bad.

Going to try and sell mine too. Anybody here looking for one before I brave the wilds of craigslist?
