Do you guys all have upgraded CPUs to handle da powah?

Else your gonna be massively bottlenecked.

Yup, got a 3900X.

Just an 8700k, probably fine.

Yes, my i5-750 from 2009 should be power enough.

Nope. Will be time for a brain transplant too. Guessing probably an AMD for the first time in many years!

Diego

Yessir, went from a 4790k (not bad at all, but the mainboard and ram were getting decrepit as fuck) to a 9600K with some very shiny ram. Took some doing to get it all set up and stable, but it’s roaring along!

Yeah, went with a full i9 build with 32gb of DDR4 late last year. All set.

Waiting to see the new AMD CPUs later in the year, at which point I guess it’s practically a whole PC upgrade, if we have new GPUs then as well.

Going to be a new system for me as well. I was originally just planning on getting a new GPU, but my motherboard has been getting flakier and flakier. By the time I’ll replace it the system will be 5 years old so not a terribly short run, although it’s still a bit of a bummer. Ah well, between the stimulus check (or two) and a bonus at work, it should cover the cost of a new system unless Nvidia goes even crazier with their pricing.

I just hope the 3070 is part of the initial launch.

Oh man, they’re gonna do the Founder’s Editions first too, forgot about that. Guess I’m waiting longer than I hoped.

Speculation has it the 3080 and 3080 Ti will drop first, with the 3070 and 3060 coming in the following months as a way to keep interest in the upper level 2000 series artificially strong until stock runs out.

That’s what worries me. I don’t want or need a 3080, but don’t want to wait until spring either

I hear you. ALL guesswork: while I expect the initial launch to be the 3080 and 3080 Ti (allegedly in September), supposedly AMD’s next big GPU release would be due to hit the following month (allegedly in October) so I suspect Nvidia would then release the 3070 and 3060 at that point or very shortly thereafter as a way to staunch the bleeding of market share.

But like I said, it’s all guesswork.

And the founders edition is gonna have that dumb fan setup.

I like to call it the blowie-blowie-wtf-is-this-thing fan.

I have zero interest in founders additions and couldn’t wait any longer so went ahead and pulled the trigger on a new rig with a 2080 super in it yesterday. This way I can wait for the new AMD stuff to hit and non founder cards and then just upgrade in 6+ months or so. I got a friend who will take the 2080 super off my hands so I’ll basically rent it for about $50 a month :)

I have a 1070FE and it’s been fine, but yeah, I will be looking to go 3rd party.

@Dan_Theman October would be ok. What would suck is not seeing the 3070 until spring

I have a 2080S and basically want a cooler card before summer :/

It gets warm in here.

Have you tried water cooling?
