I’m not sure this is about games at all, it seems more like using UE to render out visualisations. Which is why they say they’re using a 2080ti, and someone recommends a 24GB Titan.

If you look at their Youtube:

We create 3D animations and images that show how proposed development, transit and urban design projects fit into their environments.

Right, HPC, deep learning, and media creators can definitely use more memory, that was never in question.

VR, especially flight simulator games, will eat all.

It’s hard to see, but it says 4K resolution in the corner. Also, this is with RTX ON. I’m guessing this would indicate if someone could, right now with today’s drivers, get 35-40 FPS on 4K Control, Ultra Settings, with RTX ON one could expect 70+ FPS with a 3090 card.

Intersting that they are comparing a 3090 with a 2080Ti, so I suppose the 3090 is the Ti?

24GB VRAM is completely overkill. You’d want to replace your card to get the newest tech before you ever need 24GB. That’s just silly. Maybe it’s cheap to include at that level, but then why not give the 3070 10 and the 3080 12?

We don’t know what res that really is, because it says ‘DLSS enabled’ - so it’s either 1440p or 1080p (or similar) in reality, upscaled. I guess the increase at pure 4K is not as favourable?

Still… I could handle 2x faster, though I bet this will cost 2x a 2080ti too.

What is the source for these, btw?

So how does one get in line to get a 3080 on release day or very close to? I’ve always been a value shopper who waits for bargains or busy the last-gen stuff at a discount when a new gen comes out. But this time I want to get my hands on a 3080 as soon as is humanly possible. I plan to build a new gaming rig for my brother who has requested a shit-hot gaming PC. As he has requested a 3XXX series card for his and is in the latter stages of brain cancer, I’m not feeling like patience is an option.

Looking for any tips people have to share with how to get in line for pre-orders.

Oof, I’m really sorry to hear about your brother. I don’t think there’s any details/info out there yet but hopefully tomorrow morning we will know more and purchasing details will be provided.

Very sorry to hear, and I get the urgency. Hyper-technically, the product release hasn’t been announced so no place is taking orders. My guess is you will probably be able to place them at websites on or shortly after tomorrow. This, of course, will involve delivery time and probably something of a “lottery” feel (especially if aiming for a 3090, according to the rumors about the short supply of those). You may also find some benefit stopping by your local PC shop and asking what their expectations are, as well.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll keep an eagle eye out tomorrow. Are pre-orders best done directly to a particular video card manufacturer or am I just going to be combing all the pc-parts-vendor websites seeing who has their pre-orders up?

Honestly, that’s a good question and I’m not sure. I’m guessing directly through the card manufacturers (including Nvidia, of course) would be the best bet at grabbing one early, but at the same time there are likely pre-arranged allotments for Newegg, Amazon, etc…

edit - keep in mind if you’re going directly through the card manufacturer, this adds some variables including different return and shipping policies.

I saw the countdown on Nvidia.com but now I just get their homepage. Can someone share the countdown link?

I still get the countdown on their homepage, although it took a few seconds to load. It’s 24 hours and 30 minutes from now, if that helps. 4:00PM / 16:00 GMT, I think?

Restarting the browser got it back. Thanks! Looks like 9AM PST.

A previously unknown twitter account.

Narrator : It’s not cheap to include. :P

I still see it on the GeForce page.

Never forget this wisdom!

Those slides are fake.

That was always a possibility.

24 GB seems like ok, whatever for a specialist card, but the gap down to 10 seems weirdly large. You’d expect 12 and 16 to be options somewhere at the high end.
