Zen 3 on Oct 8th.

Yup. Not sure if that’s availability or just ā€œofficial releaseā€ but either way, I’m looking forward to it!

I doubt I’ll be getting anything until next year, from a basic historic perspective, last time there was a GPU upgrade cycle stuff wasn’t all that available here for some time… also, I’m kinda waiting to see what happens to the economy, so, October works fine for me.

Poor use of Deadpool song though. :D

Oh, that’s good news. Might be able to order, though probably not receive, my new PC this year.

Yeah my planned new Zen3 build is looking more like Q1 of 2021 , just too hard to do that kinda stuff during the holiday.

Learn more October 28. Well, good, my Nvidia 30x0 card will be burned in nicely by then so I can watch it on my second monitor while enjoying Flight Simulator.

They might have me on Zen 3, though. Since you can’t find a 10900K right now, my upgrade of my second system can wait another month or so. This is for my ā€œproductivityā€ rig, so if gaming is comparable to the i9 and we have that multicore goodness for productivity, the Zen 3 sounds perfect.

My case and motherboard arrive this week, meaning I have everything but storage, gpu, and cpu

:)

RAM?

Already have memory, psu, extra case fans, psu, and cpu cooler

Anti static wrist strap ?

:D

On topic, some 3060 rumors:

I am thinking $299-350 and performance near the 1080ti/2080 ?

Lol… well, I did before we moved. Not sure where it is 🤪

I fear AMD holding off on GPU info can only mean they don’t have much to say. If they won’t even claim to be competitive, it’s hard to imagine they are.

Even if RDNA2 only competes with the 2080ti/3070, the mere threat of real competition caused Nvidia to screw over consumers far less this generation, and that’s a tasty meatball.

That is true and you have to assume Nvidia have some grasp of the actual threat they’re facing, so maybe it won’t be too bad.

AMD got the steady income for providing the main components for both XSX and PS5, so PC GPU probably isn’t their main focus.

For me, my money isn’t burning a hole in my pocket. I can wait until I see the next gen console’s real world performance, then buy the PC equivalent that will surpass that.

My main game at the moment is Crusader Kings 3, and the one other game out right now that interests me alot is Chronicon. Not exactly a great justification for an upgrade over my 1080 Ti.

That all changes with Cyberpunk. I have a 4k monitor and a 1080 Ti. It’s the only thing tempting me.

Full benchmarks leaked. 3080 beats the 2080ti by ~25%.

Percentages are asymmetric. Per the article, the benchmarks point to the 3080 seems to be 25% to 33% faster than the 2080ti, the 2080ti being 20 to 25% slower than the 3080.

That’s for the benchmarks. What I think interesting is that the improvement is lower when using DLSS (which makes sense since it renders at lower resolution, but still, might point to diminishing returns in the future if the tech is widely adopted).

Note those numbers are with both DLSS and RTX active.
