Correction. I mean the backplate.

E.g. GeForce RTX™ 3090

Oh. Well, sure. I guess air could radiate out from the rear PCB, but backplates are supposed to work as heatspreaders themselves.

Edit: I hadn’t seen that pic. You’re right, that’s passthrough cooling. Probably not through a hole in the PCB, but the heatsink extending past the end of the PCB.

They also have fans that spin in different directions and I’ve seen at least one where the middle fan has a different blade count

I prefer the Nvidia 3080 cooler to any other AIB partner card I’ve seen so far.

Less RGB the better. :)

Whoa some serious price markup in Canada!

$1500USD Geforce RTX or Thermomix TM6?

Interesting take (with both Ampere and Navi info);

In article format:

B&H is a common supplier for the AV/film industry in NYC and they have a lot of professional equipment like this. This is definitely not for hobbyists…

Wow, not making me watch a YouTube video! How delightful!

That scheme all seems a bit convoluted, but I suppose it’s possible.

Putting it in article form and saving me so much time makes me take it more seriously, even though it’s all rumors and hearsay.

Official reviews delayed for a couple of days? I thought was Monday but now Weds according to Videocardz…

#suppresstheuglytruthnvidia

Yeah, looks like they extended the embargo by 2 days, until just before launch. Not a big deal as long as it’s before the actual launch.

Maybe there’s a new driver incoming and they want it tested with the new one? Just spitballing

I thought the release date was 9/17?

Yes, 17-1=16.

The notion that FE cards w/ their expensive cooler are loss leaders seems like a reasonable assumption. AIB cards will either have cheaper cooling solutions to come close to the $700 price, or have more expensive solutions and raise prices accordingly. Based solely on the gamut of prices on BH Photo, etc, the avg cost of entry on 3080s is likely to be closer to $800.

Nah, reads like speculation to me. My guess is it’s wrong and Nvidia intends to sell at a profit, although it is certainly plausible.

I saw that BB put up a notify option for the Gigabyte RTX3080 cards over at BB. I like that this card has a 2 HDMI / 2DP setup. That and the extra fan for $50 over founders MSRP doesn’t seem horrible.

Sure, I would expect AIB cards to be anywhere from $50 to $150 over the reference card, going by history, and many will offer higher clocks. Before they always offered vastly superior cooling too, but that may not be the case this generation.

I kinda think it will, though, unless you have poor case cooling.

You’re right. Less of a loss leader, and more of a lower margins scenario. To that end, I do suspect the FE and $700-ish AIB cards will be tough to get your hands on.

Googling, seems the Gigabyte Eagle cards are their entry level cards.
First time I’ve ever heard of them.
