LOL - yeah. As you mentioned, the performance is matching the leaks and expectations as opposed to our hopes and Nvidia marketing hype. Still a great card, but a let-down compared to our dreams.

MSFS is actually CPU bottlenecked. It’s largely single threaded. Much like Crysis, actually.

As mentioned below, it’s not fully optimized for multicore, but it will use up to 8 cores.

It’s not just CPU bottlenecked. You can actually run it in debug mode and it will tell you real-time if you’re CPU and GPU. With a GTX 1080, it’s fully GPU bottlenecked. With an RTX 2080Ti, it goes back and forth, so it’s obviously hitting CPU bottleneck at times. The 3080 did show a 20+% improvement in MSFS.

My question remains: Will the 3090 help in MSFS vs the 3080? I guess checking the bottleneck on the 3080 will help check that. I wish the DF guys had at least tried the built-in frame counter instead of just relying on RivaTuner.

I myself see very little reason to pay more than MSRP ($699) for any 3080 , the price increase to performance bumps just aren’t gonna be worth it imho. The stock FE cooler is fine.

I’ve never seen a video from that dude before, but is he just an idiot for stating that the card is only good at 4K? And then following that up by saying that it doesn’t have enough memory for 4K? And then following that up by saying the 3080 is a great card and that the Founder’s Edition is a good deal?

Or am I missing something?

I mean, it’s certainly true that you get the most bang for buck at 4K, especially coming from a 2000 series card.
