October 28 on the Navi reveal (8th for Zen3)

Who?
Sure.
It actually doesn’t!
Right now, yes.
Sure it is.
Will believe it when I see it.
Will believe it when I see it.

Thanks for coming to me TED talk.

If 3080 runs hot (65 degrees at load is hot?), I can’t imagine how how hot a competitive AMD card would run.

More accurate to say Ampere puts out a lot of heat that good cooling solutions rapidly move elsewhere.

Big Navi would need to have a pretty significant performance and price advantage for me to consider it over the 3080. I’ve just had too many damn headaches and issues with games on AMD cards for it to be very appealing to me but if the gap is wide enough it’d make me consider it. I’ll be really happy to see them back in the game and competing on performance for obvious reasons, though.

The videos I’ve watched indicate it runs temp wise in line with my own 1080 Ti card - around 50 at idle up to 63 or so during gameplay. That’s using the default MSI Afterburner fan curve and the FE - the EVGA cards run at the same temps, but quieter.

The Nvidia.com store has started locking you out if you hit refresh too many times. Opening a new browser window helps but sometimes not for long. It eventually opens back up again. I guess this is their first stab at bot defense.

lmao fixing the wrong things.

All of the Best Buy listings just got an ā€œonline onlyā€ badge. Nothing has been in stock there since very early this morning (and even then I’m not sure it wasn’t a glitch… who can tell with all the bots).

Yeah there’s been NO movement on any 3080 restocking according to NowInStock except for the recently added (and long since gone) Zotac additions.

So yeah. NVidia is doing a ā€œgreatā€ job shipping more to the resellers!

Diego

Nowinstock doesn’t check often enough, and any stock is immediately purchased by bots.

Any suggestion for a better alternative tool? NowInStock used to be sufficient for this kind of thing, but I guess the bots have gotten more efficient so the rest of us are kinda screwed.

Thanks, Diego

I found it was useless for the PS5 debacle, it was 1-2 hours behind what I discovered on my own.

I feel like in the heyday of bitcoin mining when the 10xx cards were always out of stock there was some story about regular folk starting to use the same bot programs the miners were using just to get themselves a card.

Well, you could setup one of the bots yourself, I suppose. Other than that we’re all pretty much out of luck. Nowinstock only checks every 30 seconds or whatever, and the bots are constant.

Now in Stock has only ever showed 2 cards as in stock, ever.

It’s like the algorithms working the stock market vs. mere mortals.

I kept newegg, Best Buy, and EVGA sites on continuous auto-refresh (edge extension) with text searches going, starting at 7am. None of them had stock at any point during this run. I’m not convinced I could have responded in time to buy one even if they had (I was working nearby).

No one got one of those waifu cards?
