Is that worth installing these days? I always uncheck it.

I’ve been letting it run for years, I never have any issues with it. Honestly I’ve never understood what the problem was?

Only problem I had was them switching to requiring an account, which provides no benefit to the user as far as I can tell (the account that is, not the software).

And it will occasionally forget your credentials, requiring you to go through a CAPTCHA from hell. A CAPTCHA. For your driver software. Drives me crazy.

I don’t let overlays run, myself. But I’m sure it’s fine.

GFE is required for the recording overlay which is the best performing one I’ve found. I certainly don’t use it for its ā€œoptimizationsā€ for each game.

This does remind me, there was one issue I had with GFE a while back where something was not working (crashing?) with a specific game and the solution ended up being disabling the GFE overlay. I almost forgot about that. So except for the overlay, the GFE software has never really been an issue. Though as @KevinC notes it can be frustrating when it wants you to re-sign back in - though that’s a PITA for any of my software, like the various digital store fronts I have installed (Steam never does this, but EPIC and uPlay like to despite having a ā€œremember this deviceā€ option that I always check).

I have GFE always up in the toolbar but I have the overlay itself disabled, mostly due to some key combination it uses conflicts with some application hotkeys and was frustrating me.

Yeah, that stuff enrages me. Just save the frickin’ login. I don’t have a password manager addon in your shitty software.

I hear that AMD doesn’t require logins … /snark

They removed all their telemetry and callbacks in GFE now?

Nope none of that stuff has changed, but you can skip GFE entirely and install their drivers without being forced to login.

Personally I do install GFE, I do login, and I disable their telemetry in Windows task scheduler.

I manually download drivers and repack them with NVslimmer from Guru3d and just install the necessary files skipping all the bullshit.

Torchlight 2 has this issue

I normally use this when I download updated Google… err, Geforce drivers. - Like Becoming

Back in the day when I was claiming a game through Geforce Experience had to spend a lot of time editing the node.js files to block all the crap they added before launching it… Not sure I’ll bother doing that again (and someone might have fixed it already)

  1. Download (https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us)
  2. NvSlimmer (https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-driver-slimming-utility.html)
  3. Pray they didn’t break something.

That shouldn’t be necessary anymore as Nvidia doesn’t force you to login or run GFE if you just want the drivers.

Ah Zotac!!! Gonna Zotac.

Wow; that’s pretty … Zotac of them.

1-3% doesn’t sound like much. That’s pretty much the same. Is it the same price as Founder’s Edition?

I don’t even know who you are anymore.
