Cards were already expensive, not sure what the appeal is to buy it from Ebay at a 50% markup.

I mean, was your current system so bad that you need to reward a ‘scalper’.

Maybe a lot of gamers sold their 1080ti/2080/2080ti’s and now are panicking?

I mean there were 20k Zotac orders on Amazon on release day, Zotac cards! And they were cancelled because there was no stock, and Amazon just kept processing orders as if there was stock.

It’s mostly been 100% markup.

I would pay an extra $200 if i could order the one I wanted right now. That is about my limit on markup though. I have been waiting for months to upgrade and it looks like I may need to wait another month to get one. $50 a week to get it early and not stress it? Sure where do I place my order?

Wow. I have a bridge to sell, interested?

Not sure your point as that phrase makes no sense in context. but…

Meh, I have the money, am sick of waiting and especially stressing trying to get one. I need a “win” and am willing to pay a little premium to make it happen. I just need someone/thing to throw my wallet at.

Is the implication here that the marked up scalper offers are actually scams?

Best part about this is they didn’t even bother to email out availability like their website says to sign up for. They just tweeted it out for all the bots :) Just 1 ounce of common sense would make this a whole lot easier for us common folk to score one.

They explained this in the FAQ - when their site went down so to did their email servers go down. Emails were supposed to go out right at 8 when the pre-orders were up, but they got slammed immediately. Like they said in their Q&A - they shouldn’t have even offered auto-notify emails. But also - everyone knew the time, no one was waiting for a tweet.

Ahh ok, that does make sense.

Indeed. the entire business strategy around the 3090 is to exploit this lucrative segment (people willing to throw money away).

I suspect to a lesser extent this is true of the 3080 as well - the ampere architecture seems to be so good that the 3070 will suffice for most wants.

Think of the 3090 like a Titan, it’s really more for HPC applications than gaming.

Asus TUF 3080 was in stock on Amazon for a good 30 seconds today!

Yeah I saw the yellow button, but it wouldn’t let me add to cart.

I would have thought for HPC it would be easier to share the load across multiple cards than it would be for gaming. What am I missing?

Yep. Same old story. Button active. But then when press it get out of stock.

Welp, My G2 got pushed back till the end of motherfucking October. I won’t really be needing the card I (pre)ordered beforehand anyway.

Well that sucks. I wonder what that means for availability for those of us who haven’t preordered one.

May the farce be with us?

It is indeed, but many HPC applications use a ton of RAM like machine learning.
