When do the next generation GPUs drop?

Where are you seeing ship dates? Is this with the retailers you’ve preordered from?

I preordered with HP Australia directly, and it shows the ‘estimated’ ship date on the order page.

The 3080 is CPU limited below 4k, straight-up.

That may be, but you still get faster performance with a 3080 @1440 than you do at 4K.

At 1440p you mean, and sure. You would just get a lot more performance with a not yet released faster CPU.

Depending on the game, maybe. All the titles I tested today, such as Shadows of the Tomb Raider, that include CPU usage showed me no bottleneck existed. Several videos I watched before I bought one agreed there was no bottle neck either, so I just don’t follow I suppose.

Every review I’ve seen showed markedly superior scaling in most games at 4k with the 3080. It’s still better, much better, than even the 2080ti. Just not as far ahead.

Until I see higher FPS for games at 4K than 1440p, I’ll assume it’s Situation Normal.

Just had the MSI 3080 in my cart at Newegg and I passed again. Not going for the Zotac POS or the MSI plastic backplate. It’s still in stock now, if you get to it in the next 4 seconds.

Reference, Asus, EVGA, or Gigabyte I’d buy immediately.

Am I the only one who thinks the Gigabyte cards looks cheap and stupid, with the staggered plastic? I’d still buy one because it’s going inside a PC, but in a market where people build PCs with windows and care about product appearance, the industrial design on these looks like a total miss.

I don’t care what they look like. They could have Goatse printed on the side in a shimmering hologram and I’d buy it, if it’s faster than the reference and doesn’t have a plastic insulating backplate!

Edit: MSI still in stock homies!

Both nowinstock and that twitter bot found it, so I wouldn’t expect it to last long, if you’re down with that plastic backplate.

They do tend to release their tech demos for download, but as far as I know this one has not been, yet.
